Israeli Embassy Releases Hilariously Odd Animated Video in Honor of Obama’s Visit

In honor of Barack Obama’s first presidential visit to Israel, the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C. released a video one might expect to see more in a middle school classroom than the international diplomatic stage.

The animated clip features the real voices of both President Obama and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, but the heads bob up and down, side to side, the lips never really matching the words.

The world leaders reaffirm the unbreakable bonds between Israel and the United States in front of reporters before the video takes an unexpected turn — with the “Golden Girls”?

Suddenly Obama and Netanyahu are in the prime minister’s library, dropping their newspapers in favor of a high five and “bro” handshake as the theme song of the popular show plays in the background.

“Promoting the president’s visit by  playing on my affinity for an 80s sitcom classic?  Well played, Israel​,” Meredith Jessup wrote on TheBlaze blog.

The video’s description includes a message from the embassy, which begins by highlighting the “deep and multifaceted” relationship “based on shared values and common interests” between the United States and Israel.

After using Iran as an example of the two countries working together, the message concludes:

Some may seek to point out the differences between us, but the true indicator is looking at how close we truly are. It is an unbreakable alliance based not only on our mutual security interests and economic interests, but also on our shared values and common interests.

We are proud to welcome President Obama to Israel to highlight the friendship between our two nations—a bond that is stronger than it has ever been.

    Come ON, people!!!
    This is an incredibly cute light hearted video!
    Let’s leave out the part that makes us realize… Meredith may have watched too many episodes of Golden Girls… and just let us hear the words to the song… and not think of a somewhat demeaning theme song connection. OK?
    I LOVE it!… has a refreshingly hopeful theme to it… very clever… Really… very wise!

Can't you kind of see it like… An overly involved Mother contemplating how a family get together is going to go at her house between fighting siblings... and "mistakenly," along with the invitation comes a video like this... suggesting: "See? Make your Mother happy!!"] OK… Golden Girls does come to mind… now.

    IMO, what would have made this funnier (and sadder) would be when it said “what goes on behind the scenes” to have articles and comments of obummer speaking AGAINST Israel and FOR the muslims.

    It would have been way better with Senator Reids head bobbing up and down, “Yes we can, avoid passing a budget, and blame it on Republicans that already sent one forward, mmmm, toes so finger licking good, can’t resist (video morphs into the head of Homer Simpson)?

    Speaking of cartoons, when are you people going to clean up your radioactive mess from the 1940s, do you think the Simpsons is going to do it? What good is health care, if the atmosphere is full of radioactive fall out from a meteor strike?

    I just returned from Israel a couple of days ago. The most common comment I heard was something like “Obama supports Israel with his words and the enemies of Israel with money and arms.” They also can’t understand why 70% of American Jews voted for Obama.

    I would have been more impressed by a “Jib-Jab” animation.. and it probably would have been more accurate and sincere… Only a fool would think Prez BO cares a blip about Israel.. His heart is with the Muslims and their well being.. not Israel’s

    What bond, what shared values, what common interests. Could that be spelled out specifically for the American people, who are America. May I remind all leaders everywhere that America is her people. Without Americans, America is a geographical location. Any President is not America, he is representive carrying out the duties of a temporary position, which is A SWORN OATH TO SERVE AND PROTECT, TO DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION WITH HIS LIFE. That does not mean the Constitution as he sees it according to an anti-America(n) ideology and demigogory. Only 10 percent of the Jewish people have any faith in the current President. Currently the biggest threat to America is the ridiculousness of the current faux democrat party morphing into the progressive liberal Communist party. God hear as we cry out to you, Save our Nation and all the Divine Godly principles we were founded on. Please protect America from all who would try to undermine your Authority and your Will. We pray for the blessing of great leaders, who love God, are moral, decent, law abiding and seek wisdom from You. Amen So please Israel Bibi and Barry be absolutely specific to both nations people, what are the mutual security interests and economic interests, your shared values and common interests are. Americans rule America and our shared interests, our personal interests are the expressed polar opposite of this Adminstration. Americans yes is and our no’s are no!     I don’t know what to make of that video. I know one thing is for sure, Obama is no friend to Israel or America. He will however give muslim radicals F16′s and tanks. He perfectly okay with arming terrorist and everyone turns a blind eye to that fact. Its the same thing with Syria, we should not be giving weapons to any group in Syria. Let them fight their own civil war. Do these politicians ever learn. The weapons we give these terrorist, are the same weapons they turn around and use on us. Its like shooting yourself in the foot over and over again.

      “Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall” or so says Proverbs. The president has both “in spades” to use a bridge term. All I know is I don’t want to be anywhere near him when it happens. He’s been good at dishing out diplomatic insults on Israel and its leaders, but will he be able to handle the push back when it happens? I think he will fall back on the spoiled brat act he uses when crossed or denied what he thinks he deserves. His pride will blind him from seeing that he will be getting exactly what he deserves. The question is, “do we deserve what he gets since as a nation we approved his re-election?” That is the part that scares me.
