Rabbi Creates Special Prayer to Be Recited by Those Who See ‘King in Our Time’ Obama

Rabbi Creates Special Prayer to Be Recited by Those Who See Obama in Israel

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef

One of the leading rabbis in Israel says it’s a “mitzvah,” a good deed or a religious duty, to personally see President Barack Obama during his visit to Israel this week and even created a prayer to be recited by those who in his opinion are so fortunate. Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, the former Sephardic chief rabbi of Israel and an influential spiritual leader is likening Obama to a “king in our time.”

Maariv reports (Blaze translation):

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef told his students that there is a great interest in seeing a king during this time and that Obama is a kind of king in our time. The rabbi added that it’s a mitzvah to try to see President Obama in person.

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef was asked by his students how to behave in relation to the visit by the American president, and if and how to [recite a] blessing upon seeing him. In Ovadia’s opinion, anyone who is fortunate enough to see the president must [recite the blessing thanking God] “Gives dignity to flesh and blood.”

The rabbi explained that President Obama today is thought of as a king: “He can declare war on an enemy state and he has the authority to pardon those sentenced to death.”

Ovadia Yosef wanted to make clear to his followers that only those who see Obama in the flesh should recite the prayer, not after seeing him on television.

Even though First Lady Michelle Obama stayed home, Yosef said the same prayer would apply to those seeing her in person as well.

Rabbi Ovadia Yosef provoked criticism in 2010 when he said that God should strike Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and other “haters of Israel” with a plague. “Abu Mazen [Abbas’ nickname] and all these evil people should perish from this earth,” he said at the time.

As TheBlaze reported in 2011, Yosef also gave his approval for the early release from prison of a Palestinian terrorist who had planned to assassinate him.

“Obama is a kind of king in our time” The Rabbi said!

Yes and the NT tells us there would be a day when God would send a delusion so they might believe a lie. Is this that delusion, that even the very elect would be fooled by? I think it is! All the signs are there!

The signs of the times fit with the NT revelations and predictions Christ made about the future. He said I tell you these things now, so that when you see them come to pass that you may believe. Believe? Believe that he who says things about the future is the real deal….God in the flesh.

Make no mistake! Dear Leader will smooze the elect of Israel and this is proof and so is what Simon Perez expressed in his news letter to the people of Israel saying that Jews, Muslims and Christians will be united as one on the Popes visit to Jerusalem. Catholic means Universal. Did you know that? A unity of faiths, with all roads leading to the same God has been promoted by many false leaders and the Catholic church.

See one Pope John Paul who implemented the coexistence movement in the late 80s’ which is held annually at the Vatican. Unite the world for world governance…under the auspice of peace and security, Unite the world for economic prosperity and Unite the worlds religions.

This is the goal and it will have to be by force. China does not want it, Russia does not want it and neither do real Christians who understand what the trade off will be.

The fact that the new Pope is a Jesuit even points more to all becoming members of the one true holy catholic and apostolic church. Just read their Nicene Creed. It states it with clarity and the intentions are totally accurate. It is shown below in it’s twisted entirety. Who believes this ****?

      I believe in one God,
      the Father almighty,
      maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.

I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
      true God from true God,
      begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
      he came down from heaven,
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
      and became man.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
      in accordance with the Scriptures.
      He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.

I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead

Along with money from Goldman Sacs and other Jewish investors. Of course their Media was very influential in promoting him as well in both the 1st and 2nd election so Obama is without question the choice of Jewish America.

I am sorry to point out that this article is an unfortunate, sad, and total misrepresentation of what the rabbi said. I posted 2 comments dated March 20th and March 21st. I am making this comment as a reply so that anyone who now reads the article can take into account the some of the research that the author of this article should of made before posting it:

      1) The Rabbi NEVER called Obama a king. The Rabbi was addressing the Jewish law of Blessing G-d, when one sees a king. In regards to this law, because a US president is able to pardon people from death, he is considered a king IN REGARDS TO THIS LAW.
      2) The Rabbi NEVER composed this blessing; it’s from the Talmud.
      3) The blessing is not to Obama, it is to G-d, as I bless G-d before I eat. I don’t bless the food.
      4) This blessing has absolutely nothing to do with the president’s policies.
      5) This Rabbi and others would say that this blessing should also be said when seeing any US president for the reason discussed in point 1).
      6) The writer of this article is too ignorant of the laws pertaining to this blessing to write such a post without further research on this blessing.
      7) This article unfairly portrays the Rabbi to be a total fool and it should have been updated.
      8) Unfortunately, my fellow TB readers who commented above this comment and below this comment was unable to read my post before commenting, as this is a reply to a comment written some time before my own was written.

The article headline is entirely incorrect. The Rabbi didn’t “create” the blessing, it already existed. Moreover, for those who don’t understand Judaic law, one says blessings for many reasons including, as is the case here, granting recognition to the true source of all that is good or evil in the world. The full text of the blessing, as translated by Artscroll, reads “Blessed are you, [Hashem, our god, King of the Universe,] Who has given his glory to human beings (literally reads ‘flesh and blood’)”. The words in brackets are, by some authorities to be left out.

The prayerbook I’m using says that this prayer is said whenever one sees a gentile king who “…rules lawfully (debatable in Obama’s case), cannot be overruled, and who has the power of life and death.” All this Rabbi did was confirm that Obama, unlike most leaders today, actually fits these qualifications. Personally, I see it as a recognition of Obama’s overreach of power more than anything else.

Tzion is correct. There are blessings one says when having a bad dream or seeing lightning or a rainbow. The Rabbi is merely giving an opinion on what blessing one would say when seeing the POTUS who, unfortunately, in this day and age, could be considered royalty. Of course, while The Rabbi is clearly a learned man, it is not clear that he is familiar with the founding principles of this country and that the president serves the people and is specifically not royalty.

I wonder if this “Rabbi” were visited by the “Chancellor” of Germany (circa 1934) would he have called him king and said a prayer for him? After all Heir Hitler had the power to “declare war on an enemy state and he has the authority to pardon those sentenced to death” – as it turns out he did (declare war on many states and on a people).

Don’t miss the point. Obama is a King like Herod was a president. He has great power and influence in the world and regardless of his inability to be wise he needs to be addressed by those who convene with God so they can make their appeals.Calling Obama a king in this context is no praise. It is instead an appeal for the Jews to follow their faith and do as the Torah and Talmud direct.
