Harry Reid Will Introduce ‘Universal Background Checks’ in Gun Control Bill

Getty Images
WASHINGTON (TheBlaze/AP) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says he will include a requirement for expanded background checks for firearms buyers in a gun control bill the Senate debates next month.
The Huffington Post reported Reid would introduce “universal background checks.”
The Nevada Democrat says he hopes that during Congress’ upcoming two-week break, senators will reach compromise on background check language with bipartisan support.
If not, Reid says in a statement that the Senate will vote on a stricter measure expanding the checks to virtually all private gun transactions, with few exceptions.
President Barack Obama and many gun control advocates consider an expansion of background checks the strongest step lawmakers could take to reduce firearms violence.
Opponents say the system is easily sidestepped by criminals and threatens creation of a government file on gun owners – which is illegal under federal law.
Reid’s announcement is certain to buoy gun control supporters after a proposed assault weapons ban was stripped from the main bill earlier this week.
Reid vowed that a ban on assault weapons and limits on ammunition magazines would be voted on in the Senate.

You HAVE to wait. We HAVE to wait. Any type of troop movement absent widespread chaos would be a death sentence. The cops and feds would descend upon you like locusts. They have to be in fear for their own lives for us to be able to assemble. Don’t you get it? We have to wait for the blacks to riot when the welfare checks are cut off or if /when Zimmerman is acquitted (assuming a fair trial). In the mean time, try to find out the addresses of as many cops and federal workers as you can. Especially the feds. Also, make note of the locations of federal govt offices, records centers, etc. and local govt buildings. Notice the spy cameras lining the highways. They are the ones with the red lenses on them. Prime targets. Communications towers, radio and tv station towers are next. Any govt sympathizer you encounter must not be given any assistance whatsoever. Even if they have kids. They are the ones that have ruined this country. Have no sympathy for them. If they engage you, terminate with extreme prejudice.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 7:15pmThe Democ-rats ultimate goal is to totally disarm the American people. We know this because that is the only way we can be controlled totally. They’ll take whatever they can in each step to get there, they’ll try for a pound of flesh (Liberty) but settle for 6oz. if that’s all they can get now. This “Universal” background check is just that. Beware the details of “Universal” which can mean all encompassing, including a check on each owner, not just new purchases, registration of each firearm, a fee for EACH firearm. As always the devil is in the details. Any halfwit can see these measures will have No affect on crime or crazy people. It’s the Registration they want. It will be the basis for future Confiscation. Only a fool or traitor would deny it. The fees and taxes leveed is just iceing on the cake of tyranny.

This new law will simply make them more insidious and will maintain what is essentially a back door firearms registration that will be maintained. Keaton was on drugs for his childhood maladies and cannot own any weapons. So, what does he care about others who do? Frankly, from what I saw him write earlier, he is still self medicating with what ever his local dealer on the street corner has handy. Some day we will likely read of an overdose in the Kansas City area and his posts will suddenly stop.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 7:35pmThis has been the goal all along. They knew that they could never possibly get the ban through congress. Universal Background Check = Registration. Ask any police officer. They can run background trace checks via serial number and come up with the person that legally purchased the gun. Q. Where exactly are they getting that information? A. From the “background check” information that isn’t supposed to be retained. You think the progressives would get rid of that tidbit of information in the age of the “Patriot Act”— Our rights are being trampled and undermined by this deception and slight of hand. Feinstein was the object you were supposed to be watching…while the actual goal slides under the radar!
Don’t be ignorant people.
Step 1 Universal background checks, including private sales.
Step 2 Universal registration (You become a criminal if you don’t register)
Step 3 Confiscation
Step 4 Serfdom. See Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc for more details.

Obama and his gang believe reaching their goals one step at a time. This step appears harmless and reasonable, because it appeals to the simple. You fail to see the big picture. Surrendering a pawn may seem harmless, but it can erodes your rights and lead to other steps which in turn lead to more significant power of grabs. Surely, we cannot agree. I see this as a seemly reasonable step with very real and unreasonable, even dangerous, implications.

Owning a weapon should not be a crime, murder is a crime. Even when it’s done with a pool cue or a fork! Not one word about increasing the penalty for the real crime!
Why are states expected to follow federal drug and tax laws, but cheered on when it comes to unconstitutional weapon restrictions?

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 7:19pmYour right! However, without universal background checks it is incredibly easy for a lifetime criminal to get his hands on a gun. There are no numbers on the subject, however the conservative estimate is 25% of homicides are committed by convicted felons, and with close to 50 people being shot every day in America, I am sure you would see that number start to go down. Imagine, just a 15% drop in homicides would make background checks well worth it!
Background checks would’ve stopped the colorado theatre shooter and the Gabby Gifford’s shooter and the Sikh temple shooter. All of which would have failed due to mental health. Also, if these background checks are extended to evaluate the mental health of all members of the gun buyer’s residency, then yes Lanza would have been stopped.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 6:42pmI said it from the start. The Dems. and some Repubs. are simply putting in “face time” to make it appear that they are “listening to all sides of the issue”, when they have an extremely strict agenda and they by God are going to get it passed come Hell or high water. It’s been shown over and over that the entire Congress and Senate cannot fight Reid and Pelosi. Just look at Obamacare, the largest issue in recent history, and it passed with flying colors. The gun ban is small potato’s to that. And if the Dems. can’t get it passed legally, they have Oby to help them slip it under Congress’s radar. The Dems don’t care what the American citizen wants, they care about the final agenda, which is open borders and a “New America” in which there is no “two parties” – only Democratic rule. And THEY WILL get this end game, because they are in power and will do every illegal trick to stay in power.
Calling officials is not the answer. Debate and picketing is not the answer. Relying on your elected official is not the answer. Reid, Feinstein, and the other Nanny Dems have shown the American citizen what their only recourse is, and I’m very afraid this “solution” is not going to be pretty for either side. “They” say our Country and civilization has advanced so much since the Civil War days. I thought we were past those times too, but I’m afraid history is repeating.

Obama Jobs Act
http://www.whitehouse.gov/economy/jobsact
SEC. 376. Federal And State Immunity.
(a) Abrogation of State Immunity (and the 11th Amendment)
The Eleventh Amendment to the U.S. Constitution reads:
The Judicial power of the United States shall not be construed to extend to any suit in law or Equity, commenced or prosecuted against one of the United States by Citizens of another State, or by Citizens or Subjects of any Foreign State.
The text of the Eleventh Amendment limits the power of federal courts to hear lawsuits against state governments brought by the citizens of another state or the citizens of a foreign country. The Supreme Court has also interpreted the Eleventh Amendment to bar federal courts from hearing lawsuits instituted by citizens of the state being sued and lawsuits initiated by the governments of foreign countries. For example, the state of New York could invoke the Eleventh Amendment to protect itself from being sued in federal court by its own residents, residents of another state, residents of a foreign country, or the government of a foreign country.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 9:00pmLaPierre supported background checks at gun shows. He does NOT support Universal Background Checks. This is more for those readers who may not know the truth. I don’t give a rat’s behind about you Keaton.
And, if you can’t win an argument without lying, then maybe you don’t have a viable case.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 6:21pmI certainly hope that Harry Reid leads one of the gun confiscation patrols to my neighborhood.
I can’t say why because posts like the one I’d like to write always seem to never get published.

I can always count on your back-up!
I know that I’d enjoy playing poker with you, maybe smoking a good cigar and telling each other lies!

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 6:17pmThis is the first step toward national gun registration, which is the first step toward national gun confiscation. Have no doubt – obama’s goal is to disarm America – they are coming for our weapons – it’s just a matter of time. BE PREPARED.

We’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this regardless of the politics….Obamas words…..

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 6:10pmAnd there ya go… remember we were saying watch the other hand? Did we really think they were going to give up that easily? They want the American people stripped of the right to bear arms. They won’t stop until they get it. Because it’s the last barrier to complete government control. If they take away our guns, it’s all over.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 6:24pmEveryone should contact their Congree person and make Harry pass a bill doing background checks on all Federal employees including Congressmen to check their income statis. I saw Chafee this morning on the news talking about a bill that would terminate their employment if they don’t pat their taxes. He stated that federal employees owe $$$ 3.2 BILLION BUCKs but they expect us to pay ours so they can get a paycheck. I wonder if all the background checks on gun purchases will produce $ 3.2 billion.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 7:46pmSure– now the media blitz starts on the “compromise” and “we have to do something” and “do you care about our children”……same drivel as usual. Now is the time to defeat this and drive the snakes back into their holes. Including the RINOs.
