After Cyprus announced Wednesday that its banks would remain closed until an undecided time next week, it was only a matter of time before tensions between the people and the state escalated into physical confrontation.
And it looks like it has begun.
“Police in the Cyprus’ capital are scuffling with protesters (including employees of Cyprus Popular Bank) outside the nation’s parliament,” Zero Hedge reports, citing local TV station CYBC.
The same TV station also claims more protesters have gathered at the country’s Parliament House. Here’s a collection of today’s protests (as aggregated by ZH):
And here’s some footage of the various scuffles between protesters and the police:
We’ll continue to monitor the situation in Cyprus as it unfolds.

American need to make sure they have ample cash on hand hidden away for this type of Government Strong-Hand tactic. Welcome to 1930s Europe.

Mar. 21, 2013 at 9:51pmIt’s only a matter of time..This country has been putting on a game now for over 5 years .The day comes uncle Ben stops printing the wheels come off…(always thought Glenn should have really continued to look into this like exactly where and how 85 billion gets moved into the system each month ..he still was one of the first to talk about it)….First there is never anyway the United States can pay higher interest on the debt now at 17 + trillion…And the powers to be know it…The entire house of cards or economy built on sand collapses at that time. Only difference here you will have millions of mad, because they got nothing , the system let them down animals going nuts…And they will…Really that is why Homeland security is stockpiling ammo. For that time…They are just trying to keep the wheels on till they are ready…That is why again yesterday Uncle Ben assures the market…He will keep printing….Trying to make things stay calm. And anyway the really bad part about the coming collapse here which will make it worst than in Europe. Our government is funneling now 8+ billion into the public buying food to feed themselves..So we here are starting in a hole so much deeper. Over there they go buy a loaf of bread some eggs and peddle a bike home..Here can you imagine what the walmart super center is going to look like with these animals just tearing away at the last shred. After they wipe the dribble off their chin and have someone come in and tell them, they’ll mess their pants and then scream I had nothing to do with it and then not run again.
Later the limbs will say it was bush.
Oh and for those wondering what I am talking about, that is when several nations who hold bonds that come due will suddenly move the rate after they collude. Not unlike merkly explaining to the euro folks Germans are done financing the excess of current corrupt socialist.

Mar. 21, 2013 at 10:03pmMy gosh, you just hit the nail right there. HUD has become so corrupt it is unbelievable. We have luxury high rise river front condo’s in Portland that have a base price of $400,000 that have huge HUD subsidies. That is because sen Ron Wyden said they were. The buyer has to qualify on a loan that big. The problem is that fixed income seniors and poverty level individuals can’t qualify to buy.
The owners then sell them off with a slight penalty. The rub is that the city gets federal grants for all infrastructure and site improvements. That cost is in the millions and they walk away. Sen Wyden then receives contributions from all the family members of the developer.

Obama has not only divided this country along race and class lines but also along age. The older people will be the wallet for the radicals’ agenda. Forget your favorite charities, folks. First, to see IF the people will react.
Secondly, to see HOW the people will react. This will tell them (the elite) if they need more equipment (is 1.6 billion rounds enough?) and to see how well their tactics work.
The unfortunate part is that they have been planning this for years and we are only in a reactionary position. They are playing chess, we are playing checkers.

A nuclear weapon armed Turkey could reassert itself rather quickly in that region and become the base of a new caliphate in short order and the West would be rather reluctant to confront such a foe given the poor state of financial affairs not only in the EU but Nato and N America. With Obama in office a serious response would be a major surprise to most of us here I would bet. Israel will be sacrificed much like Poland was in WWII.

Take a good look because this is our future, new Amerika has been formed by our collectivist one party system where everything is ‘free’ and debt doesn’t matter, until it matters then it’s too late. What do you think the citizens of new Amerika will do when they can’t access their money? What about the people who’ve been on welfare their whole worthless lives? If those in the EU have no income to buy things, then consumerism will fail there and our companies will fold here nearly overnight. Beck is right about them wanting to round up the guns in advance of this econ collapse. Things built with mans hands always fail and surely never will last.
