Limbaugh Pranks Audience With Netflix Scare To Prove a Point About Obama
Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh on Thursday told his listeners that Netflix would be raising its monthly fees in order to provide service to those who can’t afford it.
“What an outrage is that? Netflix! This would be like beer going up five dollars a case to pay for beer for those who … can’t afford it,” he said.
“This is not taxes on the rich, this is not price increases on the rich,” he added. “No! Netflix is monthly charge to help pay for those who can’t afford it.”
But here’s the thing: None of it is true.
After leading his audience on for a bit, Limbaugh finally explained what he was doing.
“Okay, mission (partially) accomplished,” he said after a commercial break. “Netflix is not raising their prices for any reason. I made that up to see what kind of reaction that it would get. I’m trying to illustrate a point here.”
“Based on my email, people are outraged … more than they get outraged over anything Obama does,” he said. “I was just kidding. Just making a point.”
“No more of an illustration,” he continued, “than saying, ‘What I think is going totally upset Obama is if an open mic catches him dissing Timberlake’s latest CD.’ Here we are, in the middle of our Idiocracy, people [would] get livid at Obama over that while he’s taking their freedoms and raising the cost of living. They could care less. Let him diss Timberlake and that’s it!”
Likewise, “let Netflix raise their price so other people don’t have to pay for it, you’d have hell to pay,” Limbaugh said.

His point was that when government asks for more of our money people tend to simply accept it regardless of the reasons or the reasoning. When a company does it, people go absolutely ape$#!+.
I believe that people should be MUCH more upset when the biggest, most powerful, and most corrupt corporation in the world (the US government) asks for more money. When Netflix does it, it’s easy to cancel and watch movies in other ways. When the Feds pass a law forcing you to pay them more money or risk legal ramifications, that’s a lot harder to get away from.

Posted on March 21, 2013 at 11:10pmGood one Rush!
It’s like the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of tax breaks CEOs and people like Rush get for flying private jets being used to provide antibiotics for children who have no insurance!
Yuck yuck. It’s just stupid. The rich are making more money than ever thanks to God and George Bush’s tax breaks. The wealthiest are smarter and more entrepreneurial than ever, that’s really why they’re getting richer and you poor slobs are getting poorer! Why should they have to pay taxes at all? They’ve done nothing but create jobs since the Bush tax cuts – that’s why our unemployment level is so low (or would be, if not for Obama). The very idea of eliminating the the private jet loophole is ridiculous. Every Christian realizes that those sick and malnourished kids are only in that state because they were born to parents who are takers and moochers.
If the government closed tax loopholes that benefit only the richest, they’d just spend it on the children of all those “takers” on stuff like food and medical care. Tax and spend.
If we, as a country, coddle the desperate poor, give them a free breakfast and support their education, then their parents will become enslaved, and they, their children, in turn, enslaved. Better to let the poor be poor, and their kids grow up poor, like they do in India. How else will THEY learn how to be successful?

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 1:15am@STM:
Your statement is based on a false paradigm. “Rich” people don’t GET richer due to a tax break – the government isn’t GIVING them money – the rich person is simply keeping more of their OWN money.
You operate from the assumption that the government gives money to everyone and thus, you, like all economically illiterate Lefties get mad at “tax breaks for the rich” because you think you are being treated unfairly. The rich pay all the taxes; 48% of Americans don’t pay any taxes while the top 1% of income earners pay almost 40% of all taxes and 20% pay almost 80% of the taxes. Tell me again who is getting screwed?
The Bush tax cuts in 2003 resulted in 52 consecutive months of positive GDP growth and lowered the unemployment rate from 6.3% down to 4.5% in January 2007. What happened in January 2007 you ask? Democrat Leftists took control of both houses of congress and their first order of business was to raise the minimum wage. Unemployment has gone up ever since – even before the banking crisis of late 2008.
We now have record amount of people out of the job force which is the only reason unemployment isn’t “officially” double digits (because we don’t count them in the calculation anymore) and record number of people on food stamps, almost 50 million.
Great job Progressives. Bravo.

I mean surely you don’t see people selling thier 10 EBT cards for cash to buy drugs or using the ATM machine to pull cash off the EBT for drinks or selling their Obama phones. Your naivete knows no bounds. The Federal government is not some altruistic society made up of do-gooders. It’s a corrupt bureaucracy that doesn’t give two dams about the poor. It uses emotional, useful idiots like you to take more of our money and funnel it to their rich friends. You are a tool of a great ponzi scheme, and what’s worse is that you don’t even realize it. Perhaps, call me crazy, if the government left more money in the pockets of the people, we could invest in charities that we make sure are using the money for good. Job creation under Bush, tax cuts and all, was probably the worst of any President in the last century. It was less than the population increase. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jobs_created_during_U.S._presidential_terms
Not sure where you got your unemployment numbers but – odd! – you clipped off the last of Bush’s second term. Maybe you forgot but unemployment when Bush left office was 8% or more and headed south. GDP growth? The worse since Herbert Hoover and the Great Depression. Who do you think you’re kidding? http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/07/29/ranking-the-presidents-by-g-d-p/
Don’t say the “libs” are responsible for any law Bush signed into law. He has veto power. Please.
You say that, “48% of Americans don’t pay any taxes…” That’s a lie and, sadly you know it. You mean federal income taxes. They pay payroll taxes and the same tax everybody else pays when they buy gas or anything else.
ThankYou, when somebody lays out one falsehood after another, I don’t know what to say. And anyone who thinks the economy was great during the Bush administration – even before the economic collapse – is being ridiculous, unless their only point of reference is the Great Depression.

Bread, water, meat, veggies, milk and water is all they need to survive, and that is all they deserve. This whole nonsense of the government making us pay for the worthless to make them feel like actual working citizens, is bulls**t and I’m tired of it. Almost all of the things we pay for for the “poor” are perks, not necessities like the government would have you believe.
