Obama to Israeli Students: Put Yourself in the Palestinians’ Shoes

President Barack Obama called for Israel to make peace with the Palestinians in order to ensure lasting security and the long-term survival of the Jewish state.

Speaking to university students in Jerusalem, Obama said the U.S. remains Israel’s “greatest friend” but urged them to imagine themselves in the Palestinians’ shoes.

“There is no question that Israel has faced Palestinian factions who turned to terror…but the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and justice must also be recognized,” Obama said. “Put yourself in their shoes – look at the world through their eyes. It is not fair that a Palestinian child cannot grow up in a state of her own, and lives with the presence of a foreign army that controls the movements of her parents every single day.”

Obama said that prior to his speech, he met with a group of young Palestinians in their late teens and early 20s not very different from his own children.

“Talking to them, they weren’t that different from my daughters,” Obama said. “They weren’t that different from your daughters or sons. I honestly believe that if any Israeli parent sat down with those kids, they’d say ‘I want those kids to succeed, I want them to prosper, I want them to have opportunities just like my kids do.’ I believe that’s what Israeli parents would want for these kids if they had a chance to listen to them and talk to them. I believe that.”

Still, he emphasized that the only way to peace is through two-sided negotiations, and vowed the U.S. would continue to oppose Palestinian efforts to bypass talks and take their case directly to the United Nations.

Obama’s remarks on behalf of the Palestinian people stood in stark contrast to his public comments the day before, when he appeared with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and instead repeatedly emphasized Israel’s right to defend itself.

Obama was interrupted one time by a heckler who apparently shouted about Jonathan Pollard, the spy imprisoned in the U.S. for passing documents to Israel. Audience members booed the protester and gave Obama a standing ovation when he said it was part of a “lively debate.”

Obama exploits his daughters for political gain then rebukes anyone else who dares to even mention his daughters’ names politically. More hypocrisy from the Serial Liar President.
About the Palestinians and Israelies, Obama is so ignorant of history he not only embarrasses our country, he greatly embarrasses himself. The violence of the Palestinians against children of Israel and other countries is beyond measure. Please, someone, get this President an education.

Before he mentioned his daughters, he was telling us how he “met” some young jordanians. Then he said they were just like his daughters….hmmmm I wonder why?…-raised moslem much???
Then he said that he is willing to bet that Israeli parents would want them to succeed in life (which is DAMN TRUE), yet he didn’t ever say what those jordanian parents of those kids wished upon the Israeli children. The trans-jordan families have always wished death on all Israelis. So thats why he was telling us to put ourselves in their shoes=teach your kids to hate and want to kill Jews.

      @Jerk
“No one ever complained bout the French Resistance when it fought for its homeland. So, why complain now about the Palestinians? Utter hypocrisy.”

No one complains when the French attacked invading soldiers but everyone does when Palestinians blow up shopping mall, school buses, restaurants, night clubs, public buses, hospitals, and open air markets? If that’s the case then all’s right in the world from where I’m standing. Amazing how leaving out details changes the narrative. Goebbels would be proud his disciple has leaned his lessons so well.

Last I checked Jerk, Palestinians in the territories are currently are governed by, policed by, and taxed other Palestinians. Perhaps it’s time to find a better analogy. The French Resistance shares far in common with the Jewish paramilitary groups prior to 1948 than any of today’s terrorists. At least back then the targets were military and political in nature not civilian.

Tzion, you’re wrong on so many fronts, again. The Resistance bombed and attacked public buildings, just like the Jewish terrorists groups did… remember the King David Hotel. The French had the Vichy government, and the attacks continued… so what’s your point, other than rambling the continual factless nonsense.

Possible I suppose. After all Obama has probably taught his daughters Arabic and thus they could watch those hateful Palestinian Videos teaching children how to be suicide bombers and teaching them how the greatest thing they can do in life is murder Israels children. Teach them songs praising all the Jihadist that have murdered those in Israel. So yes perhaps his daughters are like those Jordanian children.

But there is no way they are anything like the Israeli children who are not exposed to this hateful propaganda. Nor anything like American children which are almost never exposed to it either unless their parents are Muslim and choose to that is.

You’re proving my point. The resistance attacked public buildings of the occupation government and military, not private residences or other civilian areas. And as for the King David Hotel, you know quite well that the Hotel housed a MILITARY COMMAND POST. The explosives that took down part of the hotel were located directly below this command post. Moreover, it is common knowledge that the Irgun CALLED THE HOTEL to tell them about the bomb and ask them to evacuate. A similar call was made to the building next door and even to a newspaper. However, neither the hotel nor the British acted on the warning resulting in severe casualties that could have easily been avoided. The British themselves had confessed to this.

If that were true, he’d be right. First, those children have their own State – they can go back to Libya, Syria, or Iran – where their parents first came from.

Second, Israel is not a foreign army in their own territory. Obama isn’t a very bright guy.

The Palestinians already have a nation of their own to grown up in; Jordan. Varying percentages put the Palestinian population in Jordan between 70%-80%. Just because it was named Jordan, rather than Palestine, does not make it less of a Palestinian nation. The Palestinians did not lay claim to Judea and Samaria (West Bank) while under Jordanian control… nor did they lay claim to Gaza while it under Egyptian control… only when it was Israel’s did they begin demanding them. How could anyone expect a nation that is already among the smallest of nations to give up half of their country to their loathed enemy? As unreasonable as it is, it’s going to happen, but only briefly.

The White House released a itinerary video just days ago… a video that shrunk the sliver that is Israel to an even smaller, more indefensible target. “The map of Israel, displayed repeatedly during the video, shows the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, northern Israel, and areas surrounding what is currently the West Bank as non-Israeli territory. The Golan Heights is shown as part of Syria; Jerusalem is shown as part of the West Bank; and northern Israel is shown as part of Lebanon. The itinerary on the White House website also implies that Jerusalem is neither Israel’s capital nor even part of Israel.”

Obama always tells a little truth mixed into his lies and deception.

I’ll give him this one – that looking at Palestinian youth he thought they were not much different than his daughters. I’m sure that was actually true.

One radical socialist, class envy, bent on destroying others for their own gain to another, they have a lot in common. At least that is what he hopes for his daughters, to inherit the America he dreams of. God forbid, scarey thought. But certainly his daughters have more in common with the Palestinian radical, anti-Semitic, media manipulating, destroy your enemy at all costs youth than they do with any of the ethical, moral, God fearing, respectable Jewish Israel youth.

As stated, it’s a negotiation between two groups of people… Israel who wants to live in peace, and the Palestinians who want to destroy Israel if it’s the last thing they ever do. The Palestinians could have had their own state long ago and peace if they really wanted it but they don’t want either of those things, they want the destruction of Israel… Period.

Palestine was not its own country, but was usurped by Egypt, then controlled by Britain from before WWI, during which time the Palestinians revolted repeatedly without success.

It was not a country in its own right when at the end of WWII Britain indicated they no longer wanted to be the controlling party, and when after their treatment by the losers in the war, the state of Israel was created.

Egypt refused to accept the ‘evicted’ Palestinians, creating the problem.
Instead of telling Israeli students who have lived their lives under the threat of radical palestinian rocket attack to wear those shoes, he should– if he believes in their being open as he supports here–tell Egypt to open their borders and to welcome the peaceful hard working Palestinians who can help them recreate their troubled country.

Otherwise, he should shut up, because the feel good pablum he is trying to sell won’t work in a nation whose every neighbor is looking for a reason to attack and kill including innocent women and children.

Mr. President, the world’s reality is not the way you see it, and your meager force of will is not sufficient to change it to suit your fantasies.

Off script my A$$. This point was probably the most scripted and planned of the whole trip. Everyone keeps asking why Obama went to Israel, why now, considering the need and timing so many times before why now? This is why. He has gone their to stir up sympathetic Israelis to create sufficient internal “movement” for Palestine. Then his ilk will do what they always do – lie and emphasize semi-facts such as “It isn’t my agenda, many Israelis agree with me.” aka health care, tax the rich, gun control. Look at who he met with. This crowd wasn’t a bunch of random Israelis, these were a hand picked group of radicals already supportive of his plans otherwise they would have booed him off the stage for some of what he said. Honestly – comparing Israel and Palestine to the U.S. neighboring Canada and having “disagreements”. I must have missed the part where Quebec lobbed rockets and RPG’s at the White House for decades.

No kidding! What a ridiculous thing for the president to say. He wants them to put themselves in the Palestinian’s shoes? If they do that I guess they will just run themselves into the sea!

So, Obama thinks that the Israelis should put themselves in the shoes of the Palestinians, huh?

Yeah, well, it’s kind of hard for CIVILIZED people like the Israelis to imagine themselves so filled with hate toward another group that they’ve been marinated in from the day of their birth that they’re actually willing to blow themselves up just to take some of those from that hated group WITH them – and that their mothers would actually APPLAUD their own sons offing themselves in this way at a very young age.

Oh, and if Obama thinks it’s unjust that a group like the Palestinians should not have their own country totally independent of the country of that group that they hate so much and wants to carve that new country out of land that the hated group already calls its own:

well, there are a lot of us here in AMERICA who don’t want to be under the same flag anymore that the denizens of places like California and Illinois and New York and Massachusetts are – so would Obama support OUR having our OWN state here on the North American continent that’s totally independent of Washington DC, carved out from the states of Texas, at least much of the rest of the Old South, and the vast majority of the Great Plains states?

You are right. We want a state of our own in Texas and in the south. So…I am glad barry is in favor of independent states.

Can you belive the idiocy of this guy? Does he realize that the Palestinians he speaks so fondly of want only one thing – to kill every Jew in Israel. There will be no peace between Israel and the rest of the Arab states until either Israel ceases to exist or the Israelis do what must be done and wipe out all of their enemies.

I still can’t fathom how this creep managed to get elected to the highest office in America.

Jesus said do unto others as you’d have them do unto you?

You desire a little blood and murder eh?

Feel as if Irael is entitle to their land and others lands?

      That’s very interesting

And how many Arabs are you willing to murder over this idea of yours?

Exactly Israel is an enemy of Islam. And so are we. Obama is an idiot . Peace talks in the middl east are as pointless as the nation building in Iraq and Afganistan. They hated us before we got there and they hate us when we leave. They been at war for a thousand years….hint it’s not stopping until one faction wins TOTALLY

Wow – but no surprise that the “holy one” is demanding “tolerance” and pushing for “equality” in other Countries besides us. After all, he’s been deemed “the chosen one” and I think he truly believes he’s been “charged by Allah” to be the saviour and leader of the entire World.

Wonder if he sniffs his crap just to show it does not stink?

      @THE-MONK

Obama also spoke to Egyptian students about ‘fairness’ and look what ended up there.

My guess is that, in typical Leftist fashion – he is fomenting a divide between the young and their elders.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see an increasing number of ‘student led’ (ahem) protests and uprisings against the Israeli government.

Sure, kids do as he has done in the States. He has divided people, doesn’t do as much listening to all the people, doesn’t punish the lawbreakers that was responsible for gun running “Fast and Furious”,
He doesn’t want the people to get out and get jobs he wants to cuddle them until he gets what he wants, he doesn’t want secure borders and his workers releases lawbreaker to get sympathy more division, he doesn’t care about our healthcare cost, He only wants what he wants. So kids if you want a house divided he is the man to do it by lying or whatever it takes. Think before you ignore your parents stories and advice, as they are far wiser then your speaker,

Since Hamas has been firing rockets into Israel and killing civilians you should try to put yourself in the shoes of the Israeli’s being shelled.you POS fraud. The Palestinians continually target civilians so they’re not an army they’re just terrorists and I don’t know why Israel tolerates the squatters, they should’ve evicted them years ago.
