Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham Issue Dire Warning About Secular Progressivism and America’s Future

Bill OReilly and Laura Ingraham Issue Dire Warning About Secular Progressivism: America Could Become Poorer and Weaker and Less Influential

Last night, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly tackled secular progressive attacks on traditional society, a subject he has regularly discussed on his television program. Bringing in popular radio host Laura Ingraham, he decried yet another assault he believes is unfolding against people of faith: The War on Easter.

In addition to dismissing this alleged attempt to further strip faith out of society, the host spent some time hammering secularists who are leading the charge against traditional values.

“In some schools you are not allowed to say the word Easter,” O’Reilly proclaimed at the start of the segment, noting that some public schools are holding “Spring egg hunts” and heralding the “Spring Bunny.”

O’Reilly proceeded to explain what’s driving these changes. Taking on his familiar ideological foes, secular progressives, he said that these individuals and groups are feeling “unchained” and “liberated” and are looking to “diminish any form of religion.”

“If the far left can marginalize Santa and the Easter Bunny — if they can tell the children those symbols are obselete and unnecessary — they then set the stage for a totally secular society in the future,” he continued, warning America not to go down the liberal road that countries like Scandinavia have pursued.

Ingraham shared O’Reilly’s concerns and outlined some of the reasons she believes that traditional Americans may have fears about secular progressivism.

“I think people who are traditionally faithful…I think they understand society has become more secular. A lot of them I think are fearful,” she said. “I think there’s a lot of demonization [from] secular progressions of Christians. Maybe they think, Bill, there’s a new era of persecution that we’ve never seen in this country before…that we’re beginning to see now.”

O’Reilly went on to decry the fact that there’s no contemporary leader that traditional Americans can look to for guidance.

“There’s no national leader in this country,” O’Reilly said, noting the importance of finding a person who can galvanize people of faith.

And both pundits seemed to agree: Secular progressives pose a danger to America’s future, not only because they will potentially erode values and norms, but because history shows what happens when Christianity and values are collectively removed from society.

Ingraham, in particular, noted that Europe became poorer and lost power as secularism crept in. The U.S., too, she warned, could have the same fate should a similar dynamic unfold.

“America as a result will become poorer and weaker and less influential in the world,” she cautioned.

“If the far left can marginalize Santa and the Easter Bunny…”

Santa and the Easter Bunny are secular. They bear no connection to the religious observations of the birth, death and resurrection of Christ.

While we did celebrate Christmas with Santa and Easter with the Easter Bunny, we made it very clear to our children what the true meaning of Christmas and Easter is. Santa and the Easter Bunny were withheld until the completion of our religious celebration of Christ.

First, of all, Secular humanisn was ruled as a religion by the Supreme Court inthe 1960s. That being said, to have kids imitate or illustrate anything traditional that effects society either for or against the idead of God can be equally offensive.

O’Reilly is right, Easter bunnys have NOTHING to do with Christianity: It was and is part of Babylonian Mystery religion, where EASTER came from Heaven in Giant egg; turned a bird into an egg laying rabbit and thus proving her power as the Queen of Heaven, the Madonna with child, the Goddess of Fertility.
    http://www.examiner.com/article/easter-or-passover-the-truth-about-it

As such I have No affinity for promoting this FALSITY. I certainly don’t want to promote these fertility rites, come from Babylon on children, KNOWING it has nothing to do with Jesus. Yet, I think PEOPLE SHOULD BE FREE! If they are allowed to be free, then they will also be free to debate about the things we do and maybe we will get it right. Just dont try to force things down my throat and those of my children, one way or another.

The eggs and bunnies are nothing to do with Christianity therefore saying ‘spring eggs’ and ‘spring bunnies’ should offend NO-ONE let alone affect their freedom.

I mean, suppose you were a Christian who strongly objected to the erroneous connection of bunnies and little easter chicks to the story of the crucifiction of Christ. Do your rights count less than the rights of people who WANT to go on with the eggs and chocolate bunnies etc? Seems to me that saying ‘Spring bunnies’ and ‘Spring eggs’ keeps everyone more or less happy, it’s a nice compromise that makes sure no one is promoting a form of religion that some religious and non-religious folk alike would find objectionable, while allowing them to participate in fun, traditional seasonal activities.

rustnoggin is euphemistically referring to O’Reilly’s choosing to pay the woman claiming he had harrassed her instead of wasting the time and equal or more money fighting the allegation.

it’s a convenient Alinsky tactic… attack attack attack… no matter whether what you claim is truth.
curiously, this printed form of such an attack could land the troll in hot water, as being libelous… methinks he’s relying on O’Reilly having bigger fish to fry than chasing him for a percentage of his meager stipend for shadowing the boards here.

a colleague once allowed that the majority of what is now called sexual harrassment once was normal office banter and flirting, and that even now, if you hug a female co-worker with whom you have good rapport it’s not a problem, but if Tina Tightpants just SEES that you can get into trouble.

another case of activist courts stepping beyond the Constitution to embrace the PC attitude of ‘you cannot offend anyone else’ instead of the correct ‘if you are offended, don’t look, don’t continue to read… remove yourself from the stituation’ mentality that should prevail.

and before the trolls jump on the ‘but you can’t leave if it’s at your job,’ with all due respect, BS… Hillary is a perfect example of putting up with bad behavior because the rewards outweigh the angst. If the disgust and offense you feel is greater than the value of the job, quit. After all, there are all sorts of jobs available out there… BHO and Bi

In the name of tolerance we Christians have allowed the secularists/progressives to take over this country. We tolerated them taking God out of the schools, tolerated the abomination of legalized abortion and homosexuality as just an alternate lifestyle. Soon we will be expected to tolerate same sex marriage whether we want it or not.

We tolerated TV and movies becoming more violent, more deviant by the year and we tolerate atheists removing Christianity from all public places. We tolerate school employees brain washing our children into communism. We tolerate tyrants, petty and powerful run our lives.

We have tolerated ourselves into a country that now wants the rest of us gone, hiding in our churches and homes, until they decide that is not enough and they decide to not tolerate us at all.

If they didn’t demonize religion I wouldn’t have such a problem with it. Satan introduced the Easter bunny and Santa Claus to take away from honoring God. We of faith should continue to use those holidays to honor God and not focus so much on the chocolate bunnies and Christmas gifts. We should focus on the gifts of God and let the heathens continue to glorify their god. We must set the example to make people want to join us.

The gifts of God are the freedoms to choose a holiday to honor and worship Christ’s birth and death and the choice to call attention to both with gifts and love for the children with Santa and Bunnies and can be done with both as a teaching instrument. One has to witness the face of a child’s wonder. All children at some point “grow up” and understand the difference. That is my opinion and it worked well with me and mine.

So much like left does with everything else…they chip away at it slowly until resistance fades away. And they target children because they know adults are too set in their ideals to change.

I think it’s pretty ironic that O’Reilly is upset about the marginalization of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny, which are themselves manifestations of the secular celebration of Christmas and Easter. It’s so silly to be upset about things like this since the way most Americans celebrate Christmas and Easter is already heavily influenced by secular and pre-Christian pagan traditions. The Easter Bunny exists because of pre-Christian pagan spring fertility festivals that used rabbits to symbolize fertility and reproduction. The same is true for eggs. So being upset when they aren’t the “Easter Bunny” or “Easter eggs” is kind of ridiculous.

Why wouldn’t you be able to say Easter? Easter is not a Christian word nor does it describe the Christian holiday. It’s a reference instead to the pagan germanic godess Eoster, whose celebration of fertility and life took place in the spring time. Since the English are a germanic people, they kept the name of the godess unwittingly as well as the actual festival time, while shifting the holiday itself to mean what we consider “Easter”. It has no more to do with Christianity, as a name, than the word “Bazinga” has to do with pop tarts.

JEFFERSON..it’s only Easter in the English language. Older Christian cultures like the Greek, Italian and French use variations of the word “Pascha” derived from the Hebrew “Pasach” for Passover. These cultures kept it because of the proximity of Christ’s passion and resurrection to the Jewish Passover. And I’m wondering if we can play the left’s own game and begin using “Paschal” Bunny or “Paschal Egg” and use it to reassert the Christian overtones of the holiday. You know as well as I do that the left manipulates language. By eroding the use of the word Easter from younger and younger minds it succeeds in eroding the idea that the holiday has a Christian overtone from the culture. Much like using “holiday tree” instead of Christmas tree. It’s not whether or not the tradition is rooted in actual Christian practice, it’s the fact that the name itself is a reminder of a Christian practice. Militant atheists and secular progressives cannot abide any public mention of christian practice.
The left has learned that you can’t take away something from society in whole in one move..you have to chip away at it until eventually there’s no resistance. The left has almost succeeded in this with the notion that homosexuality is as innocuous as being left handed. And the left didn’t didn’t start with adults..it started wtih children who are now adults.

The symbolism behind modern Easter is largely misleading. Perhaps more focus should be on Passover and the rituals and feasts actually prescribed in the law. Too many Christians fail to read the bible and understand how far the modern church has led them astray of the true teachings of Christ.

Do not follow false prophets. Read the bible. The laws of the Torah did not disappear with the crucifixion of Christ.

      @338LAPUA

“I laugh at the Godless, they literally have NOTHING.”

I love you people. You show your true hatred of other people. First off, I have a loving family and loving friends. I have a great job, one that actually treats its employees well. I guess that’s “nothing.”

Secondly, you say you laugh at people who “literally have NOTHING.” Is that the right type of reaction to have if someone has “literally NOTHING.” I constantly get told about how loving your God is, how humble you people are that you’re able to recognize God and worship him. I get told how Jesus was so great, non-violent, loving, peaceful and a great moral teacher. Two sentences later all you can talk about is your God wiping out thousands of people out of the OT and billions of people in the NT and suddenly God goes from being merciful, to being just(you can’t be merciful and just). You’re now so humble before your God, that you believe EVERYTHING was created with you in mind and you seem incapable of expressing even an ounce of the type of love you say Jesus expressed. The Christians on here continue to be prime examples of how deluded and hypocritical you can be if you’re a Christian in the United States.

Every so often I will come across someone like Sleazy who can make coherent arguments, but most of the time it’s people like Patti Henry saying nonsense like, “the people who reject God are in for a brusin!”

moderationis(?)best You literally have nothing. You admitted to as much. It is great that you have a family and such. Enjoy them and love them, they are a blessing. You have not openly rejected God, but that is where you are. You have made your choice. I have made mine. I am very happy with mine, and I do not NEED your approval. You seem rather disturbed that someone has made the decision to have a life beyond the life here. Think about your choice, you may be able to do better.

      @338LAPUA

      Huh? I”m confused here

You say, “You have not openly rejected God, but that is where you are.” Uh, have you seen any of my posts? If your God existed, which I doubt, I would spit on it for creating such a horrible system. Creating a system where he knows his creation will suffer eternally unless they accept a human sacrifice?

I’m happy you’re happy. I don’t care if you believe in a God but when you say you “laugh at the Godless because they have NOTHING” I can’t help but think you’re an immoral person.
