Bill O’Reilly and Laura Ingraham Issue Dire Warning About Secular Progressivism and America’s Future

Bill OReilly and Laura Ingraham Issue Dire Warning About Secular Progressivism: America Could Become Poorer and Weaker and Less Influential

Last night, Fox News host Bill O’Reilly tackled secular progressive attacks on traditional society, a subject he has regularly discussed on his television program. Bringing in popular radio host Laura Ingraham, he decried yet another assault he believes is unfolding against people of faith: The War on Easter.

In addition to dismissing this alleged attempt to further strip faith out of society, the host spent some time hammering secularists who are leading the charge against traditional values.

“In some schools you are not allowed to say the word Easter,” O’Reilly proclaimed at the start of the segment, noting that some public schools are holding “Spring egg hunts” and heralding the “Spring Bunny.”

O’Reilly proceeded to explain what’s driving these changes. Taking on his familiar ideological foes, secular progressives, he said that these individuals and groups are feeling “unchained” and “liberated” and are looking to “diminish any form of religion.”

“If the far left can marginalize Santa and the Easter Bunny — if they can tell the children those symbols are obselete and unnecessary — they then set the stage for a totally secular society in the future,” he continued, warning America not to go down the liberal road that countries like Scandinavia have pursued.

Ingraham shared O’Reilly’s concerns and outlined some of the reasons she believes that traditional Americans may have fears about secular progressivism.

“I think people who are traditionally faithful…I think they understand society has become more secular. A lot of them I think are fearful,” she said. “I think there’s a lot of demonization [from] secular progressions of Christians. Maybe they think, Bill, there’s a new era of persecution that we’ve never seen in this country before…that we’re beginning to see now.”

O’Reilly went on to decry the fact that there’s no contemporary leader that traditional Americans can look to for guidance.

“There’s no national leader in this country,” O’Reilly said, noting the importance of finding a person who can galvanize people of faith.

And both pundits seemed to agree: Secular progressives pose a danger to America’s future, not only because they will potentially erode values and norms, but because history shows what happens when Christianity and values are collectively removed from society.

Ingraham, in particular, noted that Europe became poorer and lost power as secularism crept in. The U.S., too, she warned, could have the same fate should a similar dynamic unfold.

“America as a result will become poorer and weaker and less influential in the world,” she cautioned.

    History’s P.C. “Bible”–Part One

The epical 10-hour mini-series on History, formerly known as The History Channel, is proving to be more than enlightening; it’s also a liberal-leftist crock in many respects.
The History cable channel features programs such as “Pawn Stars,” “Swamp People,” ”Ice Road Truckers,” “American Pickers” and “Ax Men,” shows that can be entertaining although they have absolutely nothing to do with historical events unless people think hocking an heirloom, gator hunting, driving Alaska’s Dalton Highway, junk shopping, or tree chopping constitute historical events.

However, they happen to pull in pretty good ratings–and advertising dollars–sufficient reasons for History to continue producing them.

After unprecedented hype including hour-by-hour countdowns, History scored a blockbuster with the first three installments of its interpretation of “The Bible,” topping “American Idol” in viewership. Even before its initial segment on March 3rd, celebrities Shakira, Kate Gosselin, P-diddy, Christina Aguillera, and Sarah Ferguson, and others weighed in with fulsome praise.

Those endorsements were the first clue that History’s interpretation would be something less than biblically-correct.

Seriously now, have celebs like P-diddy actually read the real Bible and, if not, should they be babbling on about the merits of what is essentially an almost farcical television production?

Ishtar is a common theme with Masons.

Freedom of religion exists only in a secular society. I realize it’s difficult to give up the preferential treatment Christians have enjoyed due to be being a majority, but that time is ending so you might as well get used to it.

The internet is where religions go to die and that is why you are seeing theists losing on all fronts. Your religion belongs on your churches and in your homes and not in the public square.

When is the richest man in American Media, Bill O’Reilly, going to ask the question to Americans, why are we spending public tax dollars in non-lethal and military aid to Islamic Nations, supporting the religion of Islam? Why are Americans not demanding, demanding, that members of Congress be barred from investment markets (including their trusts) when they have access to information the general public does not, and are given generous retirement benefits rarely found anywhere?

If anyone can afford to get fired its Bill O’Reilly? If anyone can save America from these political bullies, it is people like Bill O’Reilly? Help us out please Bill?

People who use the words “secularism” and “Europe” in the same sentence have no clue was secularism is. Europe is an example of cultural marxism masqueraded as secularism…..you shut up the christians, but you let the “minorities” such as islam have full run of the public square. True secularism has never been tested because the only governments that tried it were either influenced by progressivism or communism.

I guess O’Reilly was having so much fun with his yearly “War On Christmas” hysteria that he decided to branch out on a “War on Easter”. I don’t remember much of anything being done for Easter when I was in public school back in the 70/s and 80′s. Easter is kind of an odd holiday as it’s always on Sunday so most people have the day off anyway (and it’s on a different date every year). But if you’re not a kid (or don’t have kids) and you’re not religious Easter really doesn’t mean much of anything. It’s not like Christmas which you really can’t avoid participating in to some extent no matter who you are. My family wasn’t religious when I was going up but we still did the Easter basket thing until I was about 12. Then I pretty much forgot about Easter until I got married to a religious woman.

Is it true that 90% of Americans grew up with “Easter?” With all of its pagan roots? What I find so objectionable is that the push to secularism ignores history and teaches people that we don’t NEED religion. It’s like families I know who don’t take their kids to church because they want the children to decide for themselves when they grow up. Now that’s just ridiculous. So we have a nation whose leaders/teachers/media promote the concept of “everything’s okay!” Birth out of wedlock? Good for you, nothing wrong with that! No father in the picture? Fine! You can do it on your own! Unplanned baby? Go ahead, have an abortion! No job? Don’t worry, other people will pay your way! Et cetera et cetera. It’s a very bad business and a recipe for ruin.
As we often complain, the Founders did not say “no religion;” they said “no state-specified religion.” But now we have a state that is actually promoting no religion or secularism. This is so wrong.

The sad part is that Christmas and Easter are already watered-down, commercialized holidays, whose origins are rooted in paganism. There’s not much to strip down. There’s very little originality when it comes to Christian holidays. I don’t think “secular progressives” can be faulted for the cultural plagiarism that Christians engaged in to make recent converts more comfortable with their new faith. If Christians didn’t want people to point out that their holidays are made-up and borrowed from earlier religions, maybe they should have come up with something original.

What you say is dead on correct. However, this in no way diminishes the fact that these attacks are leveled at things that are generally accepted to be Christian. If the progressives succeed in getting these things banned completely from our society and schools, you think you can get away with speaking of more fundamental concepts such as repentance, baptism or gifts of the Spirit? We should fight just as hard for Hannukah even though not Jewish since it is the concept of religious freedom that we hold dear, not just the lightweight ideas such as the Easter Bunny.

This is hilarious…..Easter is named after ‘Ishtar’, a pagan fertility goddess, whose spring festival was celebrated with orgies in the heath(woods). The early catholic church used babylonian pagan celebrations to bring the Heathens into the church. The catholic traditions of the costumes, candles, incense and the overblown solemnity all came from the the Babylonian pagan rituals. It worked then and still does, apparently.
The catholic church systematically removed all the Jewish holidays from its calender, even though Christ loved them. Easter superseded the celebration of ‘Passover’, immortalized because that was when the “last supper’ occurred.

yea i think christians should welcome the idea of not calling things that are christian as easter….For instance, we should not call it the ‘easter bunny’….We should call it ‘spring bunny’ or ‘pagan bunny’. The word easter should only be used when talking about real Christian themes – that would eliminate some of the confusion.

So the irony of this story is that Bill O’Reilly is complaining about something that should be done away with on Christian grounds anyways…But we all know Bill is not in it for the Christian parts, just the parts where he gets to tell the rest of society what to do.

Sadly enough, Bill and Laura along with many others have no idea what a christian is or looks like. Just because somebody talks about God, goes to church, gets baptized, tithes faithfully, takes communion, etc., does not mean they are christian. Remember,” the devils believe and they tremble”…are any of them christian? Judas did miracles, preached Christ’s kingdom, saw the dead be raised, feeding of the 5000, waters being stilled, handled the finances, and he was called a devil by Jesus Christ himself. If doing all these GOOD things is how you become christian or get saved, why would God send his son to be butchered and suffer the cruelest death penalty a man could ever endure? Its because God’s desire for you is to know him and his Son (John 17:3). He calls that eternal life. God has a kingdom that he wants to live in and through you right now (Luke 17:21, Rom. 14:17), not something that is only future. He says if we have child like faith we can accomplish things for his kingdom beyond our wildest dreams. He promises strength, peace, mercy, boldness, courage, understanding, wisdom, knowledge, and rewards when its all said and done. And to top that off, its offered to you freely. Who wouldn’t want that? Show me anything this world has to offer thats better than that. Would you rather lose your soul to gain this world, or lose the world to gain your soul (Matt.16:26)? Its a free choice…

Oh, sod off! It is Traditional Americana that is under attack. The stealing and dismissing of all our National Holidays – things parents, no matter where they came from – passed on to their children.

The Holiday’s were secularized in the first place so that the non-religious and non-Christian could participate without feeling “left out.” It was meant to be inclusive. Those traditions are what are being destroyed – the glue that kept society together no matter what their background was.

Quite frankly, when you have people lecturing people about something they don’t even do in their personal life – you should not be surprised when the public says ‘ no thanks’. Bill O’Reilly is just another media clown who is doing more harm than good

SOYBURGER O’Reilly is a Catholic…..I’m sure there are some good people in the Roman church, but, Getting them to accept “bible-Christianity” is proving to be a thankless task.

O’Reilly is a media whore, whose conservatism is strictly at face value. It should be taken with a grain of salt.
