Divided Senate Democrats Prepare to Bring Gun Control Package to the Floor After Easter

The first issue that the Senate will be taking up after its Easter recess is the palette of gun control measures passed by the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, including universal background checks for all firearms sales and a crackdown on gun trafficking and straw purchases. On Tuesday the Democrat-controlled Senate led by Majority Leader Harry Reid dropped a proposed assault weapons ban from their package. Vice President Joe Biden was in New York City Thursday with Mayor Bloomberg surrounded by the families of Newtown victims pledging to continue to fight for an assault weapons ban.

“For all those who say we can’t ban assault weapons” Biden said Thursday. “I say one thing: Think about Newtown.”

On ‘Real News‘ Friday the panel opened the show discussing public opinion on different gun control measures, strife in the Democratic caucus on the issue, and the legislation set to hit the floor early next month.

Why the insistence on more background checks? I could see that if they prosecuted attempted illegal purchases, but they don’t. Will they jail a girlfriend for buying a gun for a criminal boyfriend? How will they prove that? Better to just actually LOCK UP felons in possession for at least 5 years. When the government is doing the straw purchasing for the Sinaloa cartel how can we believe there is a higher standard, I don’t believe anything this government tells me. ZERO confidence.

Progressives want this to lead to confiscation because they want to be in control and they know history. Conservatives don’t want this because they know this will lead to confiscation and they want freedom and they know history. Everyone in the middle should read a little history and then decide to chose communism or freedom!

If this illegal law passes (how can it fail to pass?) it will instantly turn ALL law abiding firearms owning Citizens into criminals! Obama will be in the cat/bird seat and no doubt will, at some point, aggressively order ‘all’ identifiable resistors killed without accusation, warrant, or due process.
In the event such a nightmare scenario occurs… what do ‘we’ do then? That’s a rhetorical question! I don’t expect an answer. Frankly, I see most of todays ‘amoral’ little pansy Americans (Americans in name only), ducking for cover. If most Americans have failed to stand against killing nearly 60 million unborn Citizens… do not defend marriage and family…. think same sex marriage is the future… why would they want to stand against an illegal firearms confiscation… and Obama knows it!
An “Obama” infested Government could NEVER be elected in a MORAL nation!
.001 % of Americans read “The Blaze” or ‘post’ on it. Numbers count! Think 1934-1939!

2014 is going to be America’s watershed moment. If the voters can reject the anti-American human rights Dems like the 64 communists that were defeated in 2010, this nation would have new hope to regain the Senate and then the presidency in 2016. The low information people and the people who only “want free stuff” are a major part of the problem. The Liberals have really hurt the education in public schools. That was no accident. The next few years are going to be very rough! Thanks Libs. We owe it all to you!

  I’m more pessimistic than you SARGKING. I think the democrat/communist have enough power and influence to control the outcome of ALL future elections. They only need to ‘effect’ control in a few “Key” locations, and remember those 11 million (read 20-30 million) illegal aliens he pardoning. This time around the “House” reverts to communist control and the Senate remains in communist control! The “FIX” was revealed when the Anointed One confided with Medvedev “Privately”!

Obviously the Dems won’t listen to at least 86% of the American people that don’t want gun control or the horrific UNAFFORDABLE HEALTHCARE ACT. So-called Obamacare doesn’t care about jobs because this is the single worst piece of legislation in American history and it is killing any hope of a job recovery. The Dems don’t care if people can protect themselves from two-legged predators by trying to take away their lawful self defense rights. If you made this all up in a story, who would believe it?

I’m still thinking about “Sandy Hook Line and Sinker”. I’m still thinking, why haven’t I seen one picture of the so-called assault rifle and/or any crime scene photos? Why were bodies, the number of which we still don’t have a count on (since there were only three funerals) left to rot for nearly a week on the school room floor? The local coroner has a lot to answer for and people are starting to ask the right questions. You abject Libs are scamming the American people. You’re not going to get away with taking “away” our American human rights, in the Bill of Rights. No way. No how!

All the Liberals want to do is to chip away at our fundamental American human rights in the Bill of Rights. Give the abject Libs NOTHING. Note the anti-American Dems that vote for gun control and vote them (and the RINOS) out of office. Otherwise, you’re going to soon lose all of your rights. They won’t stop with Universal Background Checks or any other North Korean slant. Ask yourself, if you have a daughter going to college are you providing her with more than a rape whistle and a campus map to the nearest call box?

I would prefer to contemplate my navel. The lesson from Newtown is that the liberal acceptance of “not labeling” killed many people in which firearms played the same role as the airliners in 9/11 and the Ryder rental truck in Oklahoma City. A non judge mental society overly accepting of whack jobs killed those kids.

Every dime sent to an Islamic nation supports the religion of Islam, and should be reversed, that’s a violation of the US Constitution? When is that going to be addressed by Democrats instead of harrassing US Citizens for their rights protected by the US Constitution?

You stop granting visas and you stop immigrating spies from Islamic nations that want to defeat the United States from the inside? You deport Islamic nationals because Americans should not allow their tax dollars be spent on the FBI trailing and watching them, they don’t belong in the country? Americans do not want to support the religion of Islam, the Catholic Church, or Boo-duh?

Ugh. We need politician control? We need to start requiring politicians to hold a license, and if they start attacking the bill of rights, we yank their license and send them home?
