*EXTREMELY GRAPHIC* NM Slaughterhouse Worker Films Himself Shooting Horse: ‘All You Animal Activists, Fu** You’
Editor’s note: The following contains a graphic video that many will find disturbing.
–
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (TheBlaze/AP) — An employee of a southeastern New Mexico slaughterhouse that is seeking federal approval to slaughter horses has posted a video online showing him fatally shooting a horse in the head, sparking outrage among animal activists and prompting death threats to the Roswell meat company.
A maintenance contractor with Valley Meat Co. is shown in the video bringing a horse out of its pen, swearing at animal activists, then killing the horse with a single gunshot.
“All you animal activists, fu** you,” he says before taking out a handgun and shooting the animal point blank.
TheBlaze was sent a copy of the video and has included it below. Extreme caution for content and language is advised:
The Albuquerque Journal reports the state Livestock Board executed a search warrant Thursday at the Dexter home of Tim Sappington, who worked in maintenance for the company.
Chaves County Sheriff Rob Coon, whose agency is supporting the Livestock Board, told the newspaper the shooting is being investigated as an animal cruelty case.
Rick De Los Santos, a part-owner of Valley Meat Co., said he has been inundated hate calls and death threats since the video hit the Internet.
“I didn’t have anything to do with that video. That’s the honest truth,” De Los Santos said.
De Los Santos told KOB-TV that Sappington was a contract worker who made the video on his own time and at his own home.
“He shot a horse. That’s what he eats. It’s not against the law to slaughter your own horse,” De Los Santos said. “Now, putting it on YouTube, I would not have done that.”
Last year, De Los Santos sued the USDA to resume the inspections necessary to open what would be the nation’s first horse slaughterhouse in more than five years. The USDA earlier this month said it has no choice legally but to move forward with the application of Valley Meat and several other companies since Congress lifted a ban on the practice. And the company’s attorney, A. Blair Dunn, said earlier this week a final inspection of the plant by USDA officials is expected in early April.
Many animal humane groups and public officials are outraged at the idea of resuming domestic horse slaughter, including New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.
But others – including some horse rescuers, livestock associations and the American Quarter Horse Association – support the plans. They point to a 2011 report from the federal Government Accountability Office that shows horse abuse and abandonment have been increasing since Congress effectively banned horse slaughter by cutting funding for federal inspection programs in 2006.

It happens thousands of times a day around the world. But do I want to see it up on YouTube? There’s a lot of stuff in life and online that I’d just as soon not see, because it’s disturbing. I’m a meat eater, but I pray over my meals and recognize where it comes from and the sacrifice made to bring it to me. A dead animal is dead regardless how they ended up that way. This is more about this man’s state of mind than it is what he did.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 5:32pmThis guy is awesome. He is standing up for something he believes in.
I’ve read some comments on how this isn’t something people want to watch on Youtube. Well, when the title includes the words “kill” and “horse” and “murder” and “extreme” and such, then I think it’s a dead giveaway that a horse is going to die on screen. Here’s some advice: DON’T WATCH IT.
I also read stuff how he just does this to piss people off. Who says that is why he’s doing it? Who says he doesn’t make use of every last bit of that horse? Who says he isn’t being especially thankful because of the message he’s pronouncing by killing the horse on camera? Just because he doesn’t go through his entire routine, doesn’t mean he isn’t utterly thankful for the resources that horse brings.
Then there are people who are saying that him doing this isn’t helping his cause. Well, when you’ve got a bunch of idiot animal rights activists who believe they should have the same rights as humans, then nothing shy of extremism is going to “help.” This man is pretty much on the border of being extreme. He cleanly kills the animal. It’s not like he carved the meat off while it was still alive.
Finally, for you animal rights idiots out there: go to N Korea and stay in one of their camps for a while. I bet you’ll be happy to eat horse, or any meat for that matter, once you get out… if you ever get out. Raw rat anyone?

and NO! this in no way helps his cause. It hurts his cause. animal rights activists are concerned about the unneeded abuse and brutal methods that occur in slaughter houses.. so what does he do? Kill a completely healthy horse to make a point and thus reaffirming the animal rights activists point, and drawing even more attention to it..

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 7:44pmIf there is one animal that has served man faithfully and with good companionship….besides the dog….it is the horse. It was voted as America’s Heritage animal by Congress.
The horse has plowed our fields, pulled our carts, taken us to areas we could not have ventured to on foot and has given us his life in many cases in the performance of his service to mankind. This country could not have become the country it is without the horse.
Talk here is of complaints about this vicious killing coming from leftists. All I can say is that if anybody doesn’t know that there are literally millions of us who love and respect the horse and hold it in the highest regard they must be city dwellers and ignorant of the huge population of horse lovers in this country from coast to coast.
Any heavy flack about this incident or slaughterhouses in general will not be coming from the left, it will come from the hard-nosed conservative sector comprised of those of us who love our horses and the contributions they have made to mankind.
And if you wait a while you’ll be able to see what this flak amounts to in the coming weeks and months.
We’re not going to sit idle while these magnificent, intelligent animals are slaughtered by greedy corporate geeks who are looking only to enrich themselves.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 11:49pmI noticed since the news ran a story about horse meat in Europe, now all the “useful idiots” see no problem with it. It’s all the rage now. They eat horse in Korea, so that makes it all good. These “useful idiots” on TheBlaze are an embarrassment. Whatever the latest story rage is, they’ll jump on the bandwagon, but usually the wrong side. If they found out dog meat was shipped to Europe, all of a sudden they’d have no problem with this cowboy POS shooting a dog. A horse is about at the same level as a dog or cat. They are faithful pets and well respected by Western civilization. All this crap about it being a “clean kill” is bs. It’s still killing a horse (a well behaved, trusting horse) which is like killing a dog or a cat. Use your brains a bit Blazers. Horses are not eaten by Americans or Europeans for that matter. Don’t praise the “clean kill” this idiot did. Hopefully someone will pay him back in a similar “clean kill”.

If the guy did it to aggravate the PETA types, I’ve got no problem. They deserve it. The guy may be an ass, but in this country we are free to be asses if we choose. Horses have a significant spiritual connection with just about everyone in America. I’d say it’s right up there with how most people connect with a dog. And it’s the animal haters like the one in the video who stand to earn money working for these corporate profit mongers. But he’s an anomaly. I understand most of the employees are illegal aliens who are paid starvation wages in order to enrich the principals even further
The perpetrator in the video is Timothy Craig Sappington Jr., as he stands on his property at 229 Dallas Morgan Road, Dexter, NM 88230. He also owns the adjacent vacant lot, 221 Dallas Morgan Road.

Posted on March 24, 2013 at 5:00pmThere are millions of people sharing information throughout the web on this horse killer operation and the principals behind it, their motives and their practices.
So far this much is known. Part owner and operator Rick De Los Santos had a cattle slaughtering operation at the location now gearing up to kill horses…Valley Meat Company…. and ship them overseas.
It has been his practice to make frequent forays down to Mexico in search of peon labor. He has dilapidated shacks for them to live in for which he gets an exorbitant rate of rent that is deducted from their pay. They have no plumbing, heat or toilets. Some do not have electricity.
As bad as the miscreant in the video is, this Santos and his greedy cohorts in the business are far worse, because they not only sued the government to be able to kill horses they exploit foreign workers instead of hiring US citizens and encourage illegal immigration, because they can pay starvation wages and can control them better than US citizens. The governor, Susan Martinez is against this operation, also, and has tried to have it shut down.
Timothy Craig Sappington, Sr., 53, is in hiding and can’t be located.

1. The pleasure he gets from killing a beautiful animal like this.
2. Notice that the horse moves forward, toward his gun, probably expecting gentleness and love and instead receiving death.
I know that this was a violation of everything God has said about life. He did not need to kill this horse for food. Why can’t he sell it and buy an animal that is meant as food. This was just an evil act by an evil man and God will judge him. We all will be judged for how we treat God’s creation.

When you look into the eye of an animal you raised and cared for you have great respect for their sacrifice and life in general , and I thank God and my father for giving me the ability to do so. If more people had to kill to eat there would be a lot less waste at the dinner table.

Your making stuff up because you obviously think there is some difference between killing a cow, pig, fish or horse or dog. Obviously he’s tired of being harassed by liberal PETA types that can’t live in the real world. I wouldn’t film it but I understand why he did. I really hate those animal activists. Join the real world. Animals eat food people can’t people eat meat. It is delicious.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 3:40pmI’m not sure that I would categorize a horse as “not meant for food” or otherwise, but I agree with your premise. God expects us to be good stewards of his creation. That stewardship will be judged both in action and what’s in our hearts. He puts us in that stewardship position and expects us to carry out our duties righteously.

So its ok for this same practice (probably much more slopily done in the mill when your doing ALL DAY LONG) to go on All Day Long at horse mills, just so long as you don’t have to watch it?
People need to stay out of one anothers business
If you care so much about all the beautiful horses – BUY THEM ALL UP AND TAKE CARE OF THEM. Oh…… Whats that? You Can’t?
Thats exactly why these houses are open in the first place. There are WAY too many horses out there to take care of, and I’d rather see one put down instantly, than starved to death because an owner can’t take care of it

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 8:31pmWith Obama’s economy there are good horses for free. A horse that needs constant medicine for pain from an injury is getting expensive. I spent twice as much for inoculations as I did last year, why? OBAMACARE. add to that the increase in the price of fuel to grow feed, and unemployment. You have many horses falling onto hard times. I used to rescue these horses, today I can’t. This man is just a man ahead of times. A few years from now you all will hear a gunshot from a neighbor that owns horses and salivate. I have already triaged my horses according to necessity. As well as when as far as to weight loss. So all you people get off your high horse and wake up!

If you want people to stay out of your “business”, then you shouldn’t film your “business” and put your “business” online for the whole world to see. Sounds like he wanted people to see his “business”, to me. If you’re willingly to make your “business” public, don’t cry like a little girl when the public reacts to it.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 4:39pmYou are one sick puppy!. You would shoot and kill a human being for killing a horse? You are a dangerous person. As a boy growing up in Virginia, my grandfather once took me to a slaughterhouse. I couldn’t have been no more than five. Today, a child being placed in an environment like that, would be removed from his/her parents home. The parents would be charged with child abuse. By the way, it didn’t harm me in any way witnessing animals being slain. I learned where our food comes from; and the sacrifices animals have to make so that we humans can live. You liberal elites get your food in nicely wrapped packages. Yeah, let someone else do your nasty/filthy job! Your sanctimonious hands are clean! Then you can stand on your soap box, and tell the world what a great, caring person you are. I wouldn’t have done what this man did. Yes, I think it was over the top. However, we are not privy to what type(s) of abuse he has had to go through from PETA, and the likes of people like you, who say they would slay a human because that person “Killed The Horse For Food.” America is headed for some hard times. You same so-called animal rights people will eat your own pets if you get hungry enough, and there is no other recourse. Google Argentine Ruby team plane crash. In the 1970′s the Argentine Rugby team’s plane crashed in the Andes Mountains. Those who survived, “Ate The Dead Bodies Of Their Friends.” Yea, tell me all about how you wouldn’t do that!

What if one needs to exorcise the demons from this evil, wicked, demonic cowboy? What if exorcising his demons meant chopping off his head and sticking it on a spike? That would be okay wouldn’t it? Since there are a lot of Bible thumpers on here that see no problem with the senseless killing of this horse, I figure I’d talk their language. This cowboy is a demon and must be stopped. Use a silver bullet on him to rid him of his inner werewolf. It’s these crazy fundamentalist zealots that see no problem with this killing since they quote the Bible for giving man dominion over animals. They are just as sick and twisted as this psycho cowboy and his little thrill kill.
What scares me most is about 50% of these Blazers see no problem with this video. To them it’s like watching someone peel and apple-no big deal. They think this “cowboy” dude is a great guy. I expected to see about 98% outrage with a couple of trolls supporting the guy, but I see about half of these Blazers think it’s great he shot that horse in cold blood. You got a better way to kill a horse? I’m sure it’d be a lot more calm at a slaughter house in a squeeze chute getting a hole punched in it’s head with a pneumatic hammer. Even the Blaze says “Extremely graphic” surprising, yes. graphic, no. Filming an actual slaughter house high efficiency killing floor is graphic. this is a dead horse.
There are much more graphic videos on youtube of actual mechanized slaughter for our meet. If that is your standard and killing animals is sick or somehow wrong, then this guy’s a saint by comparison. You should see the cool machine they have for slaughtering chickens after their laying efficiency drops. It can liquefy hundreds of live chickens a minute. Then they can write “with real chicken” on the side of your cat food bag.

I don’t see how this is animal cruelty… the animal was not beaten tortured, starved, forced to pull anything… unless you are prepared to call it cruelty when the vet puts a horse with a broken leg down, and cruelty when the steer is killed for butchering, you are applying the law unequally, rendering it an invalid law at the outset.
i wouldn’t eat horse if i could help it… but i’m not going to say another human being does not have that right. and anyone claiming it’s not right to kill this horse with a gunshot to the head had better stop eating any meat… i promise there are worse ways some of what you eat has been killed.
