‘I Just Put Three Rounds in His A**’: Dramatic 911 Call Captures Oklahoma Man Shooting Home Intruder After Police Couldn’t Arrive Fast Enough
A dramatic 911 call recorded a Oklahoma man’s confrontation with an intruder who broke into his Ponca City home early Thursday morning. The homeowner ended up shooting the intruder several times when police didn’t arrive in time.
The roughly five minute 911 call begins frantically enough: “You better get these (expletive) here or they will die,” the man told a 911 dispatcher.
The homeowner stayed on the line with 911 as he waited for the police to arrive. However, the police didn’t arrive before the intruder found his way into the house.
“They’re beating on my front door right now,” he said.
“Okay, we’ve got them on the way,” the dispatcher replied.
“They better hurry up, because I will blow these (expletive) away.”
A short time later, the home intruder managed to gain entry into the home. It was at this point that the homeowner fired several shots at the suspect.
“I just put three rounds in his ass,” he informed the dispatcher.
Click here to listen to the 911 call.
Ponca City Police say the incident took place at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday. The intruder was transported to a nearby hospital by ambulance and then airlifted to another Tulsa hospital. His condition was unknown Friday and police have not identified the suspect.
“The case is under investigation. Ponca City Police say once they complete the investigation the case will be turned over to the DA,” KOKH-TV reports.

Posted on March 23, 2013 at 6:14pmProblem here is the Ammo being used by people to defend themselves: Lets classify Ammo as Range Ammo and Everyday Personal Defense Ammo.
Range Ammo – Ammo you fire at range – that was real simple.
Personal Defense Ammo – Ammo that will penetrate a target 12-14 inches and expansion of .50 the original diameter. A lot of people will not buy this type of ammo because of the cost: ranging from $23-$45 dollars for 20 rounds. Is your Life worth an extra $8-$29 dollars?
There are enough Ballistic Charts and Bullet Expansion Test for every person to have the Right Ammunition in their Revolver or Semi-Automaticfor whatever situation.
Inside your house with children, or living in an apartment or condo, your main concern should be over penetration. You do not want bullets going thru the wall into another room.
Besides Ammo selection – People buy a handgun, and never shoot it or may have only fired 50 rounds thru max. Do you practice loading and reloading your Handgun, do you even have a spare magazine for your semi-auto or a speed loader for your Revolver? Do you practice at night, with the lights out? Have you cleaned the dust bunnies out of it or cleared the cobwebs? Do you know that your trigger finger is your safety?
IF you shoot an intruder, there is only one goal, eliminate the threat. remember the lady is SC that shot the intruder 5 times. He got up and drove away and crashed into a tree, and then exited the car and walked 50 feet.

Posted on March 23, 2013 at 8:29pmWell you aren’t wrong… I know the intruder personally and first heard he was shot from his girlfriend.
We were roomates last summer until he moved back to O.K. to claim his native american, govt. funded health care in an attempt to get help with his drinking problem. He is not a drug addict or derilect in any way until he has liquor, its an uncanny Jekyll/Hyde transformation.
According to the girlfriend he was so drunk that he thought he had lost his keys to his own house and was trying to get back inside. Unfortunately he was at the wrong house.
Do these facts excuse his behavior? Absolutely not. Was the home owner justified in defending him andhis household? Absolutely.
As a former roomate I cannot say I am suprised or upset at this outcome? Do I wish he had self control, and that this did not happen yes. But there are consequenses for your actions in life. And if the homeowner suffers for defending himself it will be another suckerpunch to the constitution.

Since the DA is probably the product of one of our fine, anti gun and anti rights, universities he will probably prosecute the home owner. If someone is coming into your house, call 911, act scared and then shoot. Never tell them you are going to shoot. That implies you have a choice….

Posted on March 23, 2013 at 10:46pmTo answer JMorcan, yes it is ill advised in MOST cases to yell out that you have a gun and will shoot them if they don’t go away. 1) They may have a gun (with them or in their car) and you have just told them what they are up against which helps them but not you. You currently have a surprise advantage you should not surrender as you might need it. 2) They may go away, but you have possibly pissed them off only to return either when your not home, with more friends, or with more fire power. Or, they may just decide that instead of breaking in, they will cover your front and back doors with gasoline and burn your house around you. 3) They may go away and not come back, but you do have someone who still thinks they need to rob someone or harm someone so you probably avoided your victimization at the cost of your unprepared neighbor down the street. If your actions just scare them away, their next victim might be a single mom with three kids who gets raped, robbed and killed. As a citizen with the opportunity to stop a criminal you are selfish to simply be content to send them away to harm someone else.
Point is, criminals are not nice people. They don’t care about you or most anyone else. They already intend to do you harm. Why let them gain any advantage?
This is only how I look at it, not the way I think everyone should look at it. If someone tries to break into my home, I have no intention of letting them get away with it.

Posted on March 23, 2013 at 11:21pmHey, guess how many people have died from guns since Newtown! A few? A hundred? Actually, FYI, over 2000 just in the last few months. How many of those where bad guys getting killed by good guys? Three or four maybe? Not many, that’s for sure.
The logic of the right is bizarre I think. We in US have the most guns per capita of any country in the world and the highest rate of gun death per capita in the world if you exclude lawless third world countries. What I don’t get is the logic. We have the most guns and the most gun violence and deaths of any industrialized Democracy, and to reduce gun deaths we make it easier for more people to have guns?
And we fight against any law that would allow crazies and terrorists and pedophiles and declared enemies of the US financed by AL-quaeda from buying guns?
Why is the NRA elite (not their members) against laws that would prevent terrorists and perverts and crazy people from getting weapons they can use to kill large numbers of people very quickly? Is it because the NRA management loves terrorists? Is it because every time there’s people slaughtered wholesale that gun manufacturers and seller make tons of money whenever blood is spilled from the guns they sell? Don’t get upset about the fact that those guys make more money whenever brains are blown out on a large scale. I’m just sayin’.

The night prowlers would come by my house usually between 0100 and 0400. One night I woke up and there was a dude shining a flashlight in my bedroom window. They would also come by about every two weeks and check to see if the front door was unlocked, I could hear them release the handle.
Lots of property crime, mostly mexicans and blacks. It stopped when I started coming out of the house with my pump-shotgun. My preacher asked, “Why didn’t you open up the door and share Jesus with them?” I replied, “I was going to open up the door and share something with them, and it wasn’t the Gospel!”

Posted on March 24, 2013 at 11:23amAlcoholicMB, While I like your line of thought, that assumes the person actually hits their target. I always tell people to get a firearm and ammo that they can fire comfortably and accurately. Practice matters and if practice hurts, people aren’t going to do it. While larger caliber bullets are preferred, shot placement is what matters. Most of the time I carry a 380. I’ve owned handguns in 22lr, .30 Mauser (Broomhandle Mauser), 380, 9mm, 38 special, 357 magnum, 40 S&W, 41 magnum, 44 Magnum, 45 ACP, and 45 Long Colt, so I have experience shooting a lot of handguns. I carry the 380 because it has 13 round magazines, Trijicon night sights, a lightweight aluminum frame, and virtually non existent recoil. All of these combine to make it an easy to carry tack driver. Loaded with good quality hollow points, I don’t feel particularly under gunned.

Shut your dribble! It doesn’t matter if it’s 36 rounds of 45ACP +p+ JHP if none of the rounds hit vital areas it will not stop the threat! A .22LR to the T-zone will drop a guy every single time but a .44Mag to the big toe will simply hurt like hell.
If your stupid enough to say “I carry a .45 because they don’t make a .46″ you really have no idea of terminal ballistics! Not everyone can accurately shoot a 10mm, 44mag, 45ACP, 41mag, or even stiff .357mags. But properly expanding .38spcl will do the job each and ever time if direted to the correct spot.
It’s not about the size of the caliber but the accurate placement of the projectile. If the defender can not accurately fire 2rds of 44mag quick enough to stop the attacker what good are they? But if he/she can accurately fire 7rds of 9mm+p+ Federal HydraShock into the thorasic cavity and cranium of the dirtbag in half the time all while under pressure, which outcome will be better for the rightous person?
As a cop and medic I have seen people die from a 22LR fired 3/4 mile away yet others live from a contact blast from a 12ga loaded with buck shot.
Modern JHP ammo makes nearly all centerfire handguns nearly equal so long as they expand properly. My wife and I both carry .45s and .40s because we can hit where we intend to. If ya can’t do that drop down a caliber or two.

This happened in Lawton with a soldier I knew. It even turned out the suspect was a drunk soldier. Resident was an MP and a suspect a big muscle-head artilary type, 6’2 230 was banging on the door calling another woman’s name. Turned out he saw through the window of what he thought was his apt. another man with his wife. Same apt., wrong apt. building. Suspect kicked down the door, resident ordered him to leave, and according to the statment “he growled menacingly and charged” resulting in the off duty MP firing a single round of 9mm JHP center mass stopping him instantly.
Sadly, this was the second time this happened to this soldier. Had happened nearly same 1 1/2yr before when he was a Reservist and living in OKC. Ended with the same result cept other suspect wasn’t a troop.

Posted on March 24, 2013 at 6:04pm@SendTheMeteors – Reality check! Violent crime and homicide peaked in 1992 and have been declining since. The violent crime rate is 1/2 what it was in ’93. Homicides are down dramatically too.
That drop comes in the wake of more people than ever before being allowed to carry guns. It may not be the direct cause of the drop in crime, but is one factor.
Last, our legal system requires “due process” to strip you of your rights. We can’t legislate against pedophiles using the Internet and restrict their free speech rights unless they’re convicted of an offense. Same goes for Mr. Abdul Al-Qaedia if he’s an otherwise legal citizen. The “gun laws” from Congress are often poorly written, invite government abuse or do nothing to prevent the incidents they were supposed to address. NONE of the proposed laws in Congress would have stopped Newtown. It is merely an opportunity for the gov’t to impose limits on a right for which they have no power to legislate (Alex Hamilton).
Gun makers don’t profit because of the shootings, it’s ONLY when POLITICIANS say they want to further restrict our ability to buy guns that sales spike. People want one before they’re too hard to obtain. Those guilty of profiteering off these deaths it’s the Media who sensationalize them and give “fame” to the shooter, and politicians who make their name with nonsense legislation. Because all life is precious, even life being wasted by its owner.
When we become a fully socialize nation, we will not be able to afford to protect the life of the least valuable members of our society. Any violent crime may become a death sentence with summary execution. Isn’t that what Conservatives are fighting for? The right of the homeowner to protect himself and the right of the criminal to due process and no extreme punishment?

If you click on the link to the OK news station you’ll find that they found one neighbor who thought that although he was justified in shooting the intruder, didn’t think that shooting him more than once was necessarily called for. Of course the neighbor has no idea what she’s talking about and the reporters and editors involved should know that and act accordingly. However, the MSM is incapable of reporting on something like this by saying that’s what happens when you try to break into someone’s house in the middle of the night. Like “the Highlander” there can be only one.
Story that is. MINE. I have been taught, and teach my kids three things.
1. Shoot until the gun is empty.
2. Worry about what you’ve done well after the fact. Regret will get you killed.
3. NEVER give a statement to the police until you have calmed down and can tell a story you can remember to tell again. Too many times, your emotions can take over and you will say stupid things. And the Police has it all down.
If you have to have witnesses, make sure you pull the trigger a few extra times after the gun is empty. You feared for your life, remember?
My 1st wife was home alone, and 6 months pregnant. She was staying at my parents house in rural MO, while I was in Basic Training.
An intruder jimmied open the kitchen window in the back of that old farmhouse, and started climbing through the window. My wife pulled out my Colt Diamondback and fired all 6 rounds.
two hit the torso, three hit the right thigh of the BG. One missed.
The leg literally tore off as the guy fell back out of the window, and died. It took 45 minutes for the Police and ambulance to show
The 3 bullets that hit the thigh, left holes on the INSIDE the house. Self Defense, cut and dried.
I let her cry and be regretful she had to kill that frak, for about a week. Then I took her aside and told her to belay that crap, as it was unavoidable, and she had done the right thing.
Our 1st child is now 42 years old and has given us 6 grand children.

If I don’t.. well, they will be mining him for lead. If he has friends then they can join him in hell. That is the beauty of ultra high cap mags. 30 round 9mm sticks for home defense anyone? :P

YES, THE HOMEOWNER HAS A RIGHT TO SHOOT THEM FOR THE INTRUSION.

Posted on March 23, 2013 at 9:12pmI always recommend that anyone buying a handgun invest in a set of snap caps for it and then they can sit and dry fire their pistol as much as necessary until their sights stop moving when they squeeze the trigger. This alone helps you improve your hit percentage dramatically and costs under $20.

You never shoot to kill, you shoot to stop the action. Once the threat is neutrilzed you must stop firing. Case in point: OKC pharmacy shooting, the pharmasist is sitting in prison because he went back and shot a defensless suspect. If did the same thing while on duty as a cop I would still go to jail if I could not prove he was not a threat still. If the suspect is still a threat, keep shooting, it doesn’t matter how many rounds you shoot just keep shooting until you are either out of ammo or the suspect stops being a threat.
That’s why it’s OK for a couple cops or citizens to shoot a suspect 46 times, if the threat still exists, i.e. he hasn’t dropped his weapon, is still shooting, is reaching for his dropped weapon, YOU KEEP SHOOTING! If he throws the weapon away and says uncle you can’t keep firing! How hard is that to understand?
Oh, and the family can, and most likely will, still sue you. Should you continue to fire after the suspect is defensless THEY WILL WIN! If they find out that you posted online comments about ensuring the home owner “finish the job” they will also win! And that’s regardless of if you are convicted or not criminally, you will lose civilly.
A coups des gras lands you in jail.

Posted on March 24, 2013 at 11:05amActually at contact ranges, against an unarmed or armed with a contact weapon, most authorities (Ayoob among them) recommend aiming for the pelvis area. Since the assailant can still be dangerous for over 2 minutes from a fatal chest wound (see the Miami FBI shootout for proof), shooting them in the pelvis can immobilize (or at least slow down) the assailant by breaking the pelvis, the hip, or hitting either the sciatic nerve or femoral artery. This allows the shooter time to back up and gain ground and thereby time. The only other option is head shot which is much more difficult under stress. Since most people tend to pull their shots high when under stress, aiming for the pelvis will result in, at worse, a gut shot.

The Citizen’s Arrest law in MA also states that if the arrestee isn’t convicted of the felony you arrest them for, you could be liable for damages. If it winds up that this is a case of self defense then this man was justified in protecting himself. I have no problem with that. Regardless, it is sad that someone made the choice to kick in a door and enter another persons home. At that point you get what you deserve. Prayers for all involved.

The advice given to my aunt by a city detective many years ago was to 1) Get a shotgun. 2) If somebody breaks into your house, shoot him! 3) After neutralizing the threat, fire a round into the ceiling, to show the responding officers when you tell them, “but officer, I fired a warning shot into the ceiling, but he kept advancing’, so I had to shoot him!”

You can’t shoot them in the back or once they are on the ground. So do the job while they are facing you. I’ve had to pull a gun in my home twice and once in a hotel room. Posted on March 23, 2013 at 8:08amWell – didn’t intend to start such a lively conversation! Glad to hear that Oklahoma protects its citizens from frivolous lawsuits from “critters” who invade homes and wind up getting shot in the bargain.
As for the advice given my widowed aunt by a veteran detective decades ago in a women’s self defence class (during a time when there had been several violent home invasions in our city), this was a true story and meant only as a humorous anecdote (Warning: Do Not Try This At Home!). Although my aunt (and most of the rest of us) lived in single story ranch-style homes where a shot to the ceiling would have simply put a hole in the roof, she was a woman of much common sense and would never have taken such measures. Thanks to all who followed up and in the future I promise to post more responsibly.

“Arrested” more than likely does not mean he’s been taken to jail; it means he’s to wait around for the results of the grand jury decision.
