Michael Bloomberg: In Five Years, There Will Be ‘Cameras Every Place’

Michael Bloomberg: Were Going to Have More Visibility and Less Privacy…Get Used to It

NEW YORK, NY – MARCH 21: New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg stands with family membrs of Sandy Hook shooting victims at a press conference for gun control legislation on March 21, 2013 in New York City. New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg is giving Americans an advanced warning that their right to privacy is quickly expiring. In about five years, “there’ll be cameras every place,” the mayor said Friday during an appearance on the John Gambling radio show.

Further, when he was asked about the implications of domestic drones, Bloomberg said “you can’t keep the tides from coming in.”

“We’re going to have more visibility and less privacy. I just don’t see how you could stop that,” he added.

Anyone who has been to New York knows that the NYPD already has hundreds of cameras set up at various spots around the city. However, Bloomberg said there’s no reason law enforcement can’t use drones up in the sky for surveillance too.

“It’s scary, but what’s the difference if a drone is up in the air or on a building,” he remarked. “I mean, intellectually, I have trouble making a distinction. And you know you’re going to have face recognition software. People are working on that.”

Bloomberg then made his ominous prediction that in about five years “there’ll be cameras every place.” But he would also like to see “speed cameras” approved in Albany so police can catch all motorists who are going too fast on city streets.

What does the NYC mayor say to people who argue against turning government into “big brother?”

“Get used to it,” he said. “When there’s a murder, a shooting, a robbery of something the first thing the police do is go to every single building in the neighborhood and say let’s see your security camera.”

He still went on: “We should have red light cameras everyplace, why not?” Bloomberg continued. “If you break the law, why not do it? And we should not use our police officers for that. Our police officers have too much to do. They put their lives in danger all the time. … It isn’t gonna result in any fewer police officers being employed. It’ll just make them more valuable because they can work on more important stuff, like bringing crime down or preventing crime to begin with.”

I fear, especially since Cyrus – and now with Obama fomenting revolution in Isreal – that things may start to unravel quickly.

Tyrants will rise (North Korea) and masks will come off.

It was only a matter of time…time needed to build the structure.

It’s already going on. If republicans had any brains they would take the lead on this and try and stop it. That’s right Paul and Cruz are, but the dusty old big government leadership would rather go gay.

Sounds to me its time for a new era of exploration, time for a new way of life fraught with danger of the unknown. We need creative minds to lift us way from this big blue marble to out there somewhere to make a new land of freedom. Maybe only a handful will escape at first but many more will follow. If we have the will we can make anything happen, its possible I know it is because we can think of it and that is just the start.

Someone once posted here something like:

“You don’t really own any property…you just rent it from the government.

They collect the rent in the form of taxes.

Try not paying your tax and see how long you live there.”

Here is a message for Doomburg and his ilk that is intent on controlling and dominating of the American people. This is a very dangerous road your are going down. You and your liberal lemmings in New York may go along with your dictatorial tendencies because you love dictators, and like to be told what to do.

But mark my words, there are 100 million of us that DON’T, and will NOT COMPLY! Keep pushing and pushing us, and you will see an American Spring that will push you straight to hell punk.

The madness will stop when people realize that there are consequences when you set a knee-jerk precedent, such as domestic spy programs, the patriot act, the NDAA, warrantless wiretapping, etc.
I didn’t hear a lot of outrage from the right, during the Bush administration, about civil liberties and privacy rights. In fact, all i heard from the right was “if you aint got nothing to hide, then you aint got nothing to worry about” when it came to domestic spy programs and such. Everyone who supported the patriot act when Bush was in office, has blood on their hands for the sins of the current administration and the policies of the times in which we live. The precedent has already been set and most of you supported it because your “team” was in power without ever questioning the future consequences.

Every last one…The new admin has’nt suggested cameras..And I dont think they’ll even try

What a nut case! He must have a large investment into corporations and businesses that assemble and install security cameras. Yes let’s see your security camera Mr. Store owner or Mr. Banker, and it will show the criminals who are wearing mask, getting into a stolen black ordinary car with covered license plate. Yep those security cameras are going to help a lot. Bloomberg needs to fire up the Bat search light; it will do just about as good as those security cameras. Eventually enough people will leave New York and there won’t be enough revenue to purchase fuel for those drones he wants to purchase.

You have missed the whole point all together. The cameras are not for the crimes like robbery. They are for the citizens. He has given his orders to the citizens that live under him and they will comply or face the force of government. The cameras are just in case you think he will never know. Buy a soda too big an BAM! They got ya. Smoke a cig and BAM! Stick Sony earbuds in your ears and BAM! Waitress leaves salt on the table and BAM! You get my point. The cameras are not for the criminals….THEY ARE FOR YOU!
