Top Pediatrics Group Endorses Gay Marriage, Claims It Will Help Kids’ Health
CHICAGO (TheBlaze/AP) — The nation’s most influential pediatrician’s group says gays should be allowed to marry to help ensure the health and well-being of their children.
The American Academy of Pediatrics’ new policy, published online Thursday, cites research showing that the parents’ sexual orientation has no effect on a child’s development. Kids fare just as well in gay or straight families when they are nurturing and financially and emotionally stable, the academy says.
The academy believes that a two-parent marriage is best equipped to provide that kind of environment. Their policy says that if a child has two gay parents who choose to marry, “it is in the best interests of their children that legal and social institutions allow and support them to do so.”

In this Feb. 27, 2013 file photo, Dr. Paul Melchert, left, gets interrupted by son, Emmett, as he attempts to address the media while his partner James Zimerman, right, holds twin, Gabriel, during a news conference in St. Paul, Minn., where lawmakers introduced a bill to legalize gay marriage in Minnesota. On Thursday, March 21, 2013, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the most influential U.S. pediatrician’s group, endorsed gay marriage, saying a stable relationship between parents regardless of sexual orientation contributes to a child’s health and well-being. Credit: AP
The policy cites reports indicating that almost 2 million U.S. children are being raised by gay parents, many of them in states that don’t allow gays to marry.
The academy announced its position Thursday. It read, in part:
The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) supports civil marriage for same-gender couples – as well as full adoption and foster care rights for all parents, regardless of sexual orientation – as the best way to guarantee benefits and security for their children. [...]
In a previous policy statement published in 2002 and reaffirmed in 2010, the AAP supported second-parent adoption by partners of the same sex as a way to protect children’s right to maintain relationships with both parents, eligibility for health benefits and financial security. The 2013 policy statement and accompanying technical report adds recommendations in support of civil marriage for same-gender couples; adoption by single parents, co-parents or second parents regardless of sexual orientation; and foster care placement regardless of sexual orientation.
Officials with the group said they wanted to make the academy’s views known before two gay marriage cases are considered by the U.S. Supreme Court next week.
“We wanted that policy statement available for the justices to review,” said Dr. Thomas McInerney, the academy’s president and a pediatrician in Rochester, N.Y.
The pediatricians’ gay marriage stance is not surprising. They previously joined other national groups including the American Medical Association in supporting one of the Supreme Court cases, which contends the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. The academy also previously supported adoption by gay parents.

The academy’s statement notes that several other national health groups have supported gay marriage. Those are the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association and the American College of Nursing.
Dr. Ben Siegel, a Boston pediatrician and chairman of the committee that developed the new policy, said its focus is on “nurturing children. We want what’s best for children.”
The academy has a history of taking a stand on politically touchy issues. It has discouraged families with children from having guns in their homes and urged pediatricians to give teens advance prescriptions for emergency birth control.
Policy positions typically start in the academy’s committees and are based on a review of scientific literature. These recommendations then go to the academy’s board of directors, and if approved, sent on to a three-member executive committee for a final vote. The group’s 60,000 members do not vote on policy.
The gay marriage policy came from the academy’s committee on psychosocial aspects of child and family health, and an academy spokeswoman said it was adopted with no objections.
In CONTROL, Glenn Beck presents a passionate, fact-based case for guns that reveals why gun control isn’t really about controlling guns at all; it’s about controlling us. Find out more HERE.

The well-conducted research on this issue is not promising for same sex couples with children: http://howdyhepworths.blogspot.com/2012/10/dear-anonymous-some-facts-about-effect.html At best, kids do about as well in homes with single parents as with ss parents. But even then, the groups studied should have produced better results as they tended to be higher income, white, highly educated, etc.

You are right — Sadly some kids will never hear anything about how it all works from parents.
Newflash: my 12 year old does not need to know about how to use a condom. Ya know why?
Because he has not been programmed by our culture.
My children do not accept the paradigm that they cannot have self-control.
…. and that having sex as a teen is normal
…that preventing pregnancy and abortion are merciful and good choices.
…Because I have made sure he knows chastity and self-control are a choice that a man of God can make.
….I am making sure he knows what birth control does to a woman’s body.
….I told him how faulty many condoms are.
….I told him when they work well, they stop a process that God has created.
We have to stop letting this sick culture raise our kids.

One day, a friend of mine brought her oldest son (12 years old) to his pediatrician for a checkup. The doctor said she had to see him alone after his exam. His mother was suspicious and correctly suspected that this meeting was to explain to him about how to be safe and sexually active.
I mean, he was 12 years old! Isn’t it presumed he is having, or about to have sex? (sarcasm now turned off)
She was within her rights to deny the pediatrician this private meeting. She said no.
Watch out. Especially if your children are still in government schools. You children do not need to be told what morality to accept as normal, to be shown how use condoms, or any other advice.

Actually there is quite a bit of evidence pointing to sexual orientation being an inborn trait. But if you really want to know, here’s a way to prove it to yourself. Choose to be gay for a day. For 24 hours be attracted to your own gender. I’m not saying have sex, but only be attracted to your own gender. If you can’t do this, then what makes you think anyone else can? Clearly you cannot choose your sexual orientation.
Trad:
I agree that this talk should come from the parents, but some parents either don’t know all the details, or feel too awkward talking to their children about sex. This is a way for youth to get the answers they need, facts, knowing that it is true without an awkward talk with their parents. I think this would be very beneficial.

The children’s pain cannot be mitigated by the perversion of Gay marriage, only worsened exponentially to each and every passing day. At first an innocent child may not understand that a Gay marriage is an abomination but that revelation is only pending the passage of time. For example a playmate may one day ask “Who are your parents”? “My parents are daddy, daddy or mommy, mommy”? Huh?

While agree with your premise, I wonder how many children raised by homosexual parents will be raised in religion? Specifically Christianity.
If they are not, they will likely not see the behavior of their ‘parents’ as an abomination.
Not that heterosexual parents are perfect, but they are at least striving for an ideal. And it is in the striving that respect is earned.
People tend to avoid things that make them uncomfortable…they will seek out a place where their reflection does not resemble a carnival house of mirrors.

I presume you are straight so I will ask this simple question: Do you find children of the opposite gender from you sexually attractive? As I am quite confident the answer is “no” then I’m going to have to ask if it’s okay that I just go ahead and assume you’re a pedophile anyway and shouldn’t be trusted around children of the opposite sex.
As for your “choice” comment. When did you first decide to be straight? Was it a difficult decision for you? Or did you perhaps not think about it and start feeling attracted to members of the opposite sex in your early teenage/pre-teen years? I mean that’s how it was for me, girls went from having cooties to being awesome at some point. I didn’t get to be about 13 and say ‘Hey she’s pretty, I guess I’ll be straight’.

Assuming that pedophiles are born that way, which we’re still not sure about, then guess what? That’s not something they ‘have in common’ with just homosexuals. It’s something they have in common with heterosexuals as well.
The scope of my ‘nothing in common’ with comment pertained exclusively to shattering the ongoing myth that gays or gay men in particular are likely to be pedophiles. It’s not true and I showed how it’s not true using the example of a straight person not being sexually attracted to children of the opposite gender.

Children raised by the parents who conceived them are gifted with a paternal and maternal lineage. Homosexuals can never provide this kind of gift to the children they can only acquire through a paid for third party.
Let me add….the APA (American Psychiatric Assoc) is mentioned in this article. The findings of the APA on children in homosexual housesholds has come into serious questioning.
The Social Science Research journal questions the APA’s assertions.
“Loren Marks, of Louisiana State University, authored “Same-Sex Parenting and Children’s Outcomes: A Closer Examination of the American Psychological Association’s Brief on Lesbian and Gay Parenting,” which uses objective scientific methods to examine the APA assertion about the outcomes of homosexual parenting. Marks’ research calls into question the validity of the research methods and analysis of the 59 published studies cited by the APA.”
“Marks concluded that the APA assertions about homosexual parenting were not empirically warranted — i.e., the data presented doesn’t validate their hypothesis.”.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 3:19pmAh but JOHN VINCENT..this is where Gay Inc’s school age kid agenda comes in. The “Bullying” programme for example is merely a stealth propaganda campaign for homosexual acceptance indoctrination to school children. Not coincidentally…groups like GLSEN (started by Obama’s Czar of Safe Schools Kevin Jennings) are specifically targeted to school children. Recently GLSEN was advocating teaching school age children extreme sex acts like f#sting which is a practice common in the homosexual community.
California schools must provide lessons teaching kids about the contributions of homosexuals. Why this is so is beyond me other than to break down the instinctive barriers we have to aberrant behaviour.
In a sane world, this is clearly propaganda and indoctrination but it’s all presented as being essential and benevolent.
Additionally…teach kids that “gay is ok” early..and you get no resistance from them as a society later in life..and we’re seeing the fruits of that campaign right now.
This is how Gay Inc solves that problem JOHN VINCENT..but warping impresionable children’s minds at an early age.

allensmith being a physician above offered a voice of reason in this assault, and u are correct it is that.
Your observation about ‘paternal and maternal lineage’ was correct, important, strong, and undeniable. Be that as it may, most naysayers will deny this, and state your analysis as irrelevant, but calm voices of strong protest should not be avoided. You never know how much good one can do, even here in these posts.
Nice work-

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 2:15pmNice try, you sick bass turds – “Oh, but we must do it, erah, FOR THE CHILDREN.”
You mthr folksters are killing children at the rate of about 1 million a year, in the meat grinders you call ‘abortion clinics’. Take the log out of your own eye first, before you go try fixing a problem you think someone else has.

Posted on March 22, 2013 at 2:32pmFunny they do not mention whats really bad for Kids Health that they support. Abortion Clinics and Single Parents in the hood are killing millions. Of course a two parent family is best. Did not know they have to be married to get the desired effect. The group better talk to the Heterosexuals parents who live together with Children and not married – they are damaging their Children’s Health.
Just another group of peddlers for the gay lifestyle forced on everyone else but FOR THE CHILDREN. Its always about the Children for the Left, but they are poster child’s for The War On Children at Planned Parenthood.
Keep it Classy Liberals. Bunch of Hypocrites.
