Report: CIA ‘Feeding Intelligence’ to Syrian Rebel Fighters

Wall Street Journal Report: CIA Feeding Intelligence to Syrian Rebel Fighters

The CIA is “feeding intelligence” to certain Syrian rebel fighters to use against President Bashar Assad’s regime, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.

The agency is aiding only secular rebel forces to try and counter the rise of Islamic extremists now overtaking parts of rebel-held Syria:

Syrian opposition commanders said the CIA has been working with British, French and Jordanian intelligence services to train rebels on the use of various kinds of weapons. A senior Western official said the intelligence agencies are providing the rebels with urban combat training as well as teaching them how to properly use antitank weapons against Syrian bunkers.

The agencies are also teaching counterintelligence tactics to help prevent pro-Assad agents from infiltrating the opposition, the official said.

At the same time, the U.S. is sharing only “limited” information because the CIA doesn’t know whether it can fully trust the rebels, including withholding where American and Israeli intelligence believe the Syrian government keeps its chemical weapons, according to the Journal.

The CIA’s actions don’t change the U.S.’s decision not to directly intervene militarily:

President Barack Obama last year rejected a CIA-backed proposal to provide arms to secular units fighting Mr. Assad, and on Friday he reiterated his argument that doing so could worsen the bloodshed.

He also warned that Mr. Assad’s fall could empower extremists. “I am very concerned about Syria becoming an enclave for extremism because extremists thrive in chaos, they thrive in failed states, they thrive in power vacuums,” Mr. Obama said at a news conference in Amman, Jordan.

The United Nations announced this week that it will investigate claims that chemical weapons were deployed in Syria, allegations Obama said would be a “game changer” if true.

so in the litany of ‘choosing the wrong side’ which this administration has managed to do far more often than stepping correctly, we are now providing intel to the very people willing to use chemical weapons against their enemies… people who when the dust settles will not remember our aid or thank us, but will turn upon us and our allies and behave in the same manner.

The west has chosen the wrong side, Raydocx. I’m wondering if they haven’t realised that but feel they can’t back out now without looking foolish.

The mainstream media has been hiding the FSA atrocities so far, but evidence is piling up on blogs and on Youtube. It can’t be hidden forever.

NATO and, particularly the Obama administration, have been actively involved from the beginning. There is anecdotal evidence that the CIA, and NATO intelligence, controlled and supported the snipers that began the attack inside Syria. There is clear evidence that the “mission” at Benghazi was involved in recruiting foreign “jihadis” without which there would be no rebellion.

The world’s worst thugs and murderers have been arriving in Syria from all over Europe and the Middle-East, and the results are predictable. They indescriminately shoot and behead innocent Syrians. Rape is pandemic and robbery is commonplace. And all this is supported largely by the Obama administration’s largesse.

      http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/3634/european-jihadists

      http://www.wnd.com/2013/03/when-america-switched-sides-in-terror-war/

Is it any wonder that the “rebels” can’t make progress because of determined support of the Syrian people for their government? The citizens know full well the horror that awaits them if the insurgents are successful.

The insanity is that the FSA, while receiving money and materiel from the US, burns the American flag.

      @ Kid

Thanks for posting that. It demonstrates the simplistic view that our betters have of the situation.

It is true that Syria has staunchly supported Iran and is no friend of Israel. The west could and should use the current position to extract an agreement from Assad to change his stance in both areas. I have no doubt that he would be very willing to listen to such a proposal.

Unfortunately, Saudi Arabia and Qatar want control of Syria for quite different reasons and they continue to push the west towards war, proffering stable oil prices and supplies as an added incentive. And, make no mistake, the spectre of war is exactly what we are looking at.

      http://www.wnd.com/2013/03/russia-protecting-mediterranean-interests/

Having spent a relatively small amount of time digging into this, I wonder why supposedly well informed politicians believe that their false narrative will succeed. Did they learn nothing from the “mulsim video” debacle? Do they enjoy looking foolish?

Jerk…explain to me how a nation the size of Jersey was kicked out of their land twice, the second for nearly 2000 yrs., multitudes of dictators and nations trying to completely exterminate them, scattered all over the planet, endures relentless persecution, yet some how they are preserved through it, their original language is still intact, their original lineage from 4000 yrs. ago still intact (which starts with Abraham), they are a race and a religion, and restablished as a nation in 1948, reclaiming Jerusalem in 1967 in only a six day war? Can you name me any other nation in human history who has done that? Jerusalem is now and will be in the future, the center of the universe. Jews are still blind to this yet and will get kicked out one more time, with the remnant to come back after WWIII, (Armageddon) with their King (who will not come in a manger this time) leading the charge. There will be no world peace until their is peace in Jerusalem. And this same King wants to have peace with you right now. To know God and his Son is to possess eternal life (John 17:3). He came once in humility to offer you a new life and hope (Col. 3:4). And to top that off, its free. Its also a free choice. You cannot deny the fact that for Isreal to even exist today is a miracle in itself. And God wants to perform a miracle in your heart by giving to you his righteousness (Rom. 5:17, Eph. 4:24).God is about done with the gentile nations (including America). His kingdom is most important.

The book’s hero captures the essence of the struggle with a simple, chilling phrase, “The Great Game is not over until everyone is dead. Not before”. And we will not be surprised ..it is the low information voter .. the Obama Zombies.. think Obama is doing a great job trying to bring peace to the region and will want to send troops to save people from slaughter. Peace will never come to that area, even if Israel no longer exists. 1. I bet you that Israel if they believe that they are loosing, they will nuke that whole area and turn it into on glass radioactive site and 2. The remaining arabs will keep fighting each other .. Look at Irag .. Sunni bombing Shiites and Shiites bombing Sunnis.

    Dear Glenn,
I heard you say on your program (on Dish) yesterday that 1/2 of US citizens side with Bronco Insane Blama. I wonder about that. We had an election for President back in Nov. 2012, here are the statistics.
There are 207,643,594 eligible voters in the U.S. The census bureau estimates as of July have the US total population at 303,824,640. As of the 2006 general election the Voting Age Population (all adults) was 225,964,346 whereas the Voter Eligible Population (adults – ineligible people like felons or non-citizens) was 207,643,594. Now out of that number of eligible voters how many voted for B.O?
Out of that number how many voted for Mittens? Now about 125,000,000 voted in the presidential election of 2012. Where were the other voters? They may or may not be for BO, but if they were, I would say that they would have been bussed or paid to vote many times, but they chose not to vote. So a little over 65,000,000 voted for BO. That is not half of the population of this country by any stretch of the imagination. Those who voted for this Lim Brohood lover are even sick that they voted for him. He does not have 1/2 of the voting populations backing at all.

Gee…ya think?!!! Bengazi….Scott Brown, the Ambassador was a CIA black op expert who was expressly there to spearhead a CIA operation in which we (the USA) were covertly looting the huge Lybian Kadaffi arms caches that were just sitting there….and through the auspices of the Turkish Ambassador….running these looted weapons through Turkey to arm the Al Quieda backed Syrian Rebels…. Same stuff they are overtely doing now.

Brown and that embassy was sacrificed to uphold Obama’s reelection bid. pure and simple…

Make no mistake…there is absolutely nothing that heartless bastard in the presidency will not do to support Islamic radicals…all the while he is posturing and playing us behind the smokescreen of constant deception…

Syria and all the Islamic nations are a black hole…there is absolutely no winning strategy with these deceptive islamic morons….nationbuilding is fruitless when the islamic “culture” is an 8th century oxymoron.

America MUST focus upon Energy Independence…build up our own refining capacity…and use ONLY our own oil and gas.. Leave the Middle East to fools and other environmental Ghia kissing radicals….

It should also be mentioned that we supplied intelligence to the belligerent Israeli’s when they unilaterally bombed both Iraq and Syria under the anything goes excuse of “preemption.”

It should also be mentioned that the removal of Saddam from Iraq and the destabilizing of Syria were both part of the Israeli strategy written by American Zionists back in 1996. They wrote their study, ” A Clean Break: A New Strategy for Securing the Realm,” then went on to hold prominent policy positions in the Bush administration.

We have been following that plan to the letter. What a coincidence… to fools.

sadly i suspect the administration actually believes what is being claimed, having not learned their lesson in Egypt.

keep our troops out… do what we can to rescue the women and children with the aid of Turkey, but let these zealots and radicals destroy each other and grow weary of bloodshed and death, so they are less likely to bring it to our shores or visit it upon our enemies… with ‘intel’ and equipment we provide, nonetheless.

Muslim Brotherhood has strong influence in the CIA and White House
CIA is, via Obama’s orders arming the terrorist/rebels in Syria
CIA is, via Obama’s orders, giving intelligence and training to the terrorist/rebels.

All of it ties back to two figures: The Muslim Brotherhood and to Obama, their ally in the White House.

Our foreign policy has been confusing for many, many years. One minute we’re arming, supporting, and funding the Mujahideen, and the next minute they are using our weapons, training, and money to kill us and attack our foreign interests. One minute al-Qaeda is flying planes into our buildings, and the next minute our CIA is feeding them intelligence ( along with money and guns ).
