The Moore family had a visit from two representatives from the New Jersey Department of Social Services and four police officers on the night of March 15 demanding to see the family’s firearms. The uninvited appearance was triggered by an anonymous call to New Jersey’s Department of Youth and Family Services after a photo of the 10-year-old son of Shawn Moore holding a .22 rifle appeared on a website dedicated to “Open Carry” in the state of Delaware.
Moore says that the state officials and police demanded entry into the home and access to the family’s firearms without a warrant responding to a call about a photo of a young boy holding a firearm. The Moore family did not let the officials in, and Shawn says the police and Family Services workers threatened to “take my kids.”
Police said last Wednesday that they would not file any charges against Moore for posting the photos of his son online.
