In two separate cases recently, would-be robbers were thwarted by gun owners.

According to MyFoxDFW, 20-year-old Desmond Paige was killed when he tried to rob a man who brought his concealed weapon to the Craigslist transaction for a cellphone. The incident happened outside a Metro PCS store in Fort Worth, Texas, Tuesday.

Police said Paige, who was on parole after recently being released from prison for committing a violent crime, was shot several times by the person he tried to rob.

“When I got over to him I saw that he was bleeding out of his mouth and his chest. So I kneeled down next to him just to say you know ‘hey I’m here you know, hold on. The ambulance and police are coming,’” MyFoxDFW reported an unnamed witness saying.

Paige was pronounced dead at the scene.
