Successful Second Suspect Standoff — Here Are the Pictures

Just after a press conference Friday that lifted the lockdown urging Watertown, Massachusetts, residents to stay inside for the entirety of the day, the area where the second suspect of the Boston marathon bombing was thought to be hiding saw a burst of activity.

Gunfire erupted Friday night amid the manhunt for 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving suspect in Monday’s bombing, and police in armored vehicles and tactical gear rushed into the neighborhood in a possible break in the case.

Tsarnaev is hiding in the boat behind a home on Franklin Street, refusing to come out as he had been surrounded by authorities. Neighbors in the area were evacuated. After more than an hour, the suspect was apprehended.
