Dianne Feinstein Says Benghazi Hearing Was Really About Discrediting Hillary Clinton

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said Sunday that the latest congressional hearing on Benghazi was really a way for Republicans to discredit former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

“We’ve gone through all of this, now we’re going through it again,” Feinstein said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “My concern is, when Hillary Clinton’s name is mentioned 32 times in a hearing, that a point of the hearing is to discredit the secretary of state who has very high popularity and may well be a candidate for president.”

Clinton was the head of the State Department during the Sept. 2012 terror attack that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens.

“I understand, Republicans have a grievance because this happened a month before the election,” Feinstein continued. “Every effort has been made to turn it into something that is diabolical. I don’t see that, and if I did, I would say that. But I don’t see that.”
