First there was Jazzercise and now there’s…Prancercise.
If you’re unfamiliar with the viral exercise phenomenon, it’s described by its founder, Johanna Rohrback, as, “A springy, rhythmic way of moving forward, similar to a horse’s gait.”
In case you haven’t seen the initial video that’s sweeping the country, here it is:
This morning, the giddy fitness guru appeared on the “Today” show, where she showed off some of her workout moves — and convinced hosts Natalie Morales and Al Roker to join in Prancercising with her.
Naturally, the hosts wondered how Rohrback came up with the workout.
“I started by doing a very intense exercise routine. It involved power-walking with ankle weights,” she said. “And one day — I was like hearing a really good tune and I started to stretch my limbs very rhythmically forward and the rest is history.”
Of the monumental response that unfolded this week, she said that she’s both “flabbergasted” and “thrilled,” noting that the YouTube video during which the galloping moves are introduced has more than two million views (and counting).
