An explosion has occurred at Nyack College, a Christian school affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, north of New York City.
The blast happened shortly before noon and has injured up to seven people, according to the Associated Press. A Rockland County undersheriff says the injured include one student and six staff, and all have been taken to the hospital.
None of the injuries are expected to be life-threatening.
“They are being tended to as we speak,” Chief William Barbera with the Sheriff’s Department told Patch.

Authorities say there is a gas leak at the building, but it’s not certain whether it caused the explosion or if the explosion caused the leak.
The explosion reportedly blew out windows and doors and, though everyone is expected to survive, sources told WCBS 880 that one person was actually thrown out the window during the blast.
