The now ex-New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, who was arrested Wednesday and charged with murder and weapons counts, could also be under investigation in connection with a double homicide that occurred in Boston in 2012, according to WAGA-TV.
The local Fox affiliate reported an incident occurring on July 16, 2012, involving an officer response in the early morning hours to a scene where three people had been shot, two fatally.
“Witnesses observed a grey SUV style motor vehicle with Rhode Island registration plates open fire on the victim’s motor vehicle,” the blog post stated.
WAGA reported its source saying the deceased were identified as Safiro Furtado and Daniel Abreu, who worked at a local cleaning company and had left a bar.
With little other information, WAGA simply reports its source saying that investigators were evaluating Hernandez in connection with the 2012 murder.
On Wednesday, Hernandez was arrested in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Odin Llyod after the semi-pro football player’s body was found about a mile from Hernandez’s North Attleborough home earlier this month.
The 23-year-old who was cut by the Patriots just hours after his arrest is being held without bail on the murder charge and five weapons counts.
If convicted of Llyod’s murder, Hernandez could face life in prison.
