A member of the New Black Panther Party said he hopes George Zimmerman is found guilty and murdered in prison.
“Anything less than death for George Zimmerman is not justice,” Kojo Kayrallah, who identified himself as the chief of staff for the state of Florida, told the Daily Caller.
Asked about the possibility of Zimmerman being killed in prison, Kayrallah responded, “praise be to God.”
The New Black Panther Party joined several other groups in demonstrating outside the Seminole County courthouse in Sanford, Fla. as the jury began deliberations, the Daily Caller reported. Kayrallah said they were there to seek “justice for Trayvon.”
Another member, James Muhammad, told the site, “We’re not advocating any acts of violence against anyone in prison or out of prison,” before adding that there’s “always that possibility” that a “child killer” would die in prison.
Separately, tweets from the New Black Panther Party said they had planned “rallies and street maneuvers” and that there is a “HIGH chance of rebellion across the nation” if Zimmerman is acquitted.
Police in Sanford have appealed for a calm reaction from the public no matter the verdict.
Zimmerman, 29, could be convicted of second-degree murder or manslaughter in the shooting death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin, and faces up to a life sentence in prison.
