Christian actor and filmmaker Kirk Cameron appealed to family and friends Thursday after reportedly discovering that Facebook had disallowed links to his upcoming film “Unstoppable” because the content is “‘abusive’, ‘unsafe’,  and ‘spammy’!” he wrote.

The alleged ban seemed resolved the same day, but it adds speculative fire that Facebook keeps finding Christian content to disallow on its site.

Here’s Cameron’s statement:

Calling all friends of Faith, Family, and Freedom! Facebook has officially “blocked” me and you (and everyone else) from posting any link to my new movie at UnstoppableTheMovieDOTcom, labeling the content as “abusive”, “unsafe”, and “spammy”! I can’t even write the real link here, or Facebook would block this post too!! Try to post it yourself and see! We have been officially shut down by Facebook and unable to get any response from them. This is my most personal film about faith, hope, and love, and about why God allows bad things to happen to good people. What is “abusive” or “unsafe” about that?! Please help us encourage Facebook to unblock our website soon by sharing this post with your friends so more people can see this transparent, faith-building project.

His post received more than 36,000 “likes” and 7,400 comments as of 10 p.m. Thursday, and the Examiner reports that “it appears Facebook lifted the ban, and fans were able to post links.”

More from the Examiner:

However, at least one fan mentioned that McAfee deemed the site “unsafe,” which could mean there was an effort by one or more individuals to shut down the movie site by reporting it as “unsafe” to sites like McAfee and Facebook.

Unstoppable is a documentary that explores why God lets bad things happen to good people. It is showing in theaters in a one-night-only screening September 24. The official movie website is UnstoppableTheMovie.com.
