Liberal MSNBC host Chris Matthews slammed Anthony Weiner for trotting out his wife during his press conference on Tuesday, saying “indecency’s not the right word” to describe the move.

Weiner, who will not drop out of the New York City mayoral race, spoke out on a new round of sex chat revelations, some of which occurred after he resigned from Congress and publicly apologized. His wife, Huma Abedin, stood by his side and even spoke at the press conference.

“When you drag your spouse out before the public only for this — never before would he use her in this way, only for this, to cover his butt — to drag a very nice woman, a great public servant, very respected and drags her out to make her stand next to him,” Matthews said, adding that “indecency’s not the right word for it.”

“Look at that nice woman trying to smile through all this hell,” Matthews added.

The MSNBC host also jabbed at Weiner earlier in his TV program, saying it seems he only stopped sexting when he decided to run for mayor. He also said he was dishonest and that he hopes the press “nails him.”
