Four men are lucky to be alive after their car was caught in the middle of a powerful landslide this weekend.

The incident in Yan’an City, China, was caught on CCTV video:

As the above video shows, two of the car’s four occupants were able to escape the vehicle almost immediately. A third escaped shortly afterwards and then the three of them returned to the vehicle to rescue the fourth occupant, as CNN notes.

As for the pedestrian in the road at the beginning of the video: his fate is unclear. There are only a few reports on the incident and none of them can account for his whereabouts after the landslide hits. However, if you look closely at the end of the video, there are figures moving around in the background. Still, it’s unclear whether the pedestrian is among them.

“Rain storms in Shaanxi Province resulted in some three inches of rain in just two hours, causing the landslide itself,” a recent Jalopnik report adds.
