Looking to plan your next vacation based on congeniality?

The results are in from Conde Nast Traveler’s annual readers’ choice survey, which clocked Florianopolis, Brazil, as the “friendliest” city in the world and Newark, N.J., as the “rudest.” The survey was based on the input of more than 46,000 readers.

“Newark is best known for being the site of an airport near New York, and for many of our readers, that’s the only reason to stop there,” the magazine declared.

And Newark isn’t the only American city to be accused of being unfriendly — four others cracked the top 10.

The travel magazine noted that its survey takes into account numerous factors including location, size and language barriers, and isn’t based solely off the rude behavior of city residents.

Still, ouch.
