Authorities are on the hunt for a driver who dragged and nearly ran over a Florida deputy who was trying to make an arrest early Sunday morning, according to WKMG-TV.
The whole ordeal was captured on the dash camera of the Indian River Sheriff deputy’s cruiser.
WKMG reports that Andrew Coffee Sr. was being arrested for drug possession when he broke somewhat from the deputy’s grasp and got back into the car. The driver, Wesley Clark, drove the vehicle away with the deputy still attempting to hold on, being dragged a few feet before he dropped near the car’s rear tire.
The deputy quickly popped back up and joined the other officer with him, running back to the cruiser to chase down the men. Eventually, the fleeing car crashed, leading the police to apprehend Coffee on several charges. Coffee’s son was also arrested on the scene when it was found he had a cellphone app that allowed him to listen to law enforcement radio, according to WKMG.
Clark, the driver, is still on the loose, wanted for aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and other charges.
The officer who was dragged suffered only minor injuries.
