Speaking at the annual American Bar Association’s dinner in San Francisco Monday night, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had a verbal gaffe worthy of President George W. Bush.

Meaning to praise civil right icon Medgar Evers, Clinton for some reason told a story about a guy named Medgar Evans.

“In 1963, in Jackson, Mississippi, John stepped between angry protesters and armed police to prevent a potential massacre after the murder of Medgar Evans,” said Clinton while speaking about one of her early mentors, lawyer John Doar.

Watch:

An outspoken civil rights advocate, Evers was murdered on June 12, 1963, in front of his home.
