Things have got to be tense at the U.S. State Department as countries like Egypt and Syria continue to spiral into total chaos. More than 700 people have been reported dead since violent clashes began in Egypt on Wednesday, including at least 64 on Friday, and the department will face several key decisions in the near future that will have far-reaching implications for the United States.

So how does the man who heads the State Department unwind during a stressful time like this? He goes kiteboarding in Nantucket, Mass.

TheBlaze has obtained exclusive photos of Secretary of State John Kerry’s kiteboarding adventure in Nantucket – and at 69-years-old, you have to admit, his skills are pretty impressive:

Meanwhile, across the globe, Egyptians were also hitting enjoying the water ahead of the so-called “Day of Rage.” A stunning photo captured the surreal scene at the beach in Marsa Matrouh, Egypt, as the city burned in the background:

Kerry’s love of water sports has not gone unnoticed by the media or his political opponents in the past.

George W. Bush ran a now-iconic attack ad during the 2004 presidential campaign that used footage of Kerry windsurfing and compared his zig-zagging to his tendency to flip flop on the issues. Kerry has been unable to shake his association with the sport to this day. Take a look:

Further, the State Department last month was forced to admit that Kerry was on his private yacht during the military coup in Egypt, a claim they denied at first. According to the Weekly Standard, Kerry is worth an estimated $198 million.

President Barack Obama was still on vacation on Martha’s Vineyard on Friday. He opted for the ground over the sea:
