The economic downturn that’s adversely affected public schools all over America has apparently inspired some teachers (well, more than “some”) to take matters into their own hands.

SeekingArrangement.com, the self-touted “the #1 online dating website for sugar babies and generous men,” claims that 40,000 public school teachers have joined the site in order to find wealthy, older men for “mutually beneficial relationships,” the Daily Caller reports.

“You can’t expect a teacher to accept less pay for more work than their peers, and then reach into their pockets to fund your child’s classroom,” declared Brandon Wade, the website’s founder and CEO in a press release.

“But that’s what’s happening. If those are the expectations and pressures we are putting on our teachers in America, than they can’t possibly be judged for whatever extracurricular activities they choose to pursue to stay afloat.”

And what are the, er, top-performing school districts this regard?

According to SeekingArrangement, they are, in order:

  1. The School District of Philadelphia
  2. Miami-Dade County Public Schools
  3. Los Angeles Unified School District
  4. The Clark County School District (Las Vegas area)
  5. New York City Public Schools

Data is self-reported by those who use the site when they initially sign up, the Daily Caller reports.

“Based on the occupation field ‘teacher,’ we polled members to see which school districts they worked in,” explained Jennifer Gwynn, SeekingArrangement’s public relations manager, in an email to The Daily Caller.

SeekingArrangement’s data set reveals that the average public school teacher who uses the site is between the ages of 28 and 33 and seeks about $3,000 per month for services.

The Daily Caller says SeekingArrangement “appears to be the Google of sugar-daddy dating websites, claiming over two million registered members.”

And wouldn’t you know that it’s the same site New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner’s sexting buddy perused? Sydney Leathers, the Daily Caller says, was active on the site from August 2012 to April 2013.
