Dow Jones Has Best Week in Nine Months

It may have been a bad week for certain politicians in Washington, D.C., but it was a great week for U.S. stocks.

The Dow rose 75.42 points, or 0.5 percent, to 15,376.06, marking its best five-day performance since the week ending January 4, 2013:

The Standard & Poor’s 500 index increased 4.57 points, or 0.3 percent, to 1,687.99:

And the Nasdaq rose 6.22 points, or 0.2 percent, to 3,722.18:

All in all, September has been very good for stocks.

The Dow is up 3.8 percent and the S&P 500 has increased 3.4 percent.

Meanwhile, gold has dropped $22 to $1,308.60 an ounce and oil has fallen 39 cents to $108.21 a barrel.
