On Monday, TheBlaze covered the heartwarming story of the actions of an anonymous Good Samaritan in Boston who found and returned a backpack filled with a small fortune.

While we are still unaware of the identity of the very lucky person whose backpack, $2,400 in cash, $40,500 in traveler’s checks and passport were returned to him thanks to the act of a complete stranger, we now know who he is.

The Boston Globe reported that the very shy Mr. James did not speak to the press, instead he handed out a hand-written statement at the press conference. The humble man explained his actions with a powerfully simple statement, “Even if I were desperate for money, I would not have kept even a … penny of the money I found. I am extremely religious — God has always very well looked after me.”

The shy Glen James did not miss the opportunity to thank all the people who had ever donated spare change to him on the streets. He also included a special mention and endorsement of Boston mayoral candidate, Charles Yancey. According to James’s statement, Yancey put seven dollars into the homeless man’s panhandling cup. That donation earned a hearty, “Charles YANCEY for Mayor of Boston. He cares!!!”
