This probably isn’t what Dirty Harry had in mind.
An Indiana man has been arrested for pointing a gun through his passenger side window at a fellow driver over the weekend in a case of extreme road rage.
According to WKYT-TV, David Kollar was driving on 1-75 near exit 97 in Kentucky Sunday when he saw a black sedan driving erratically. He took out his phone and pulled closer behind the car to get the license plate number.
“I was concerned for everyone’s safety. I could get his plate and report it to police and let them follow up on it. I didn’t expect to get shot at in the process,” Kollar told WKYT.
When Kollar pulled alongside the car, a man later identified as 51-year-old Perrin Dobyns rolled down his window, pointed the gun and allegedly fired.
“You see all of this happen in front of you and it’s like ‘wow, that could have been it,’” Kollar said.
According to the local news report, Kollar had fortunately backed off in time to avoid being shot, if the weapon was in fact fired. Kollar then called police.
Dobyns was found in Indiana and arrested by state police at the Branchville Correctional Facility where he was working at the time. WKYT reported that he was taken to Perry County jail and charged with a felony of first-degree wanton endangerment. He will be extradited back to Kentucky, but it’s not known when he will return.
“Road rage can be a very dangerous situation,” Kentucky State Police trooper Robert Purdy told WLEX-TV. “What is uncommon in this case is it escalated where someone allegedly fired a pistol.”

There are been other road rage incidents this year involving firearms as well. In March, a physical brawl broke out due to road rage and a gun was brandished. More recently in Michigan, two people were killed when firearms got involved after a heated incident on the road.
