Former Vice President Al Gore tried to purchase social media website Twitter one drunken night in 2009, according to a new book about the company.

The book, entitled “Hatching Twitter” and authored by The New York Times’ Nick Bilton, alleges Gore got drunk in a San Francisco hotel with Twitter founders Evan Williams and Biz Stone and offered to purchase the company.
