A letter apparently distributed to parents at one elementary school warns that children are forbidden from wearing superhero costumes while taking part in the school’s annual Halloween celebrations.
“We do have guidelines on appropriate Halloween costumes for school,” the letter, posted to popular Internet website Reddit, said. “We have developed these policies over the years to help make our Halloween celebrations fun for everyone.”
The letter, which TheBlaze has not been able to verify the authenticity of, says that “because young children get frightened by some costumes” the school would be prohibiting students from wearing a host of popular costumes.
According to the letter, “no superheroes (this includes Batman, Superman, Supergirl Spiderman (sic), Wolverine, any of the Fantastic 4, Ninja Turtles, Power Rangers, etc.”
Moreover, “no witches, ghosts, monsters, or anything that might be scary to a small child” would be allowed.
Earlier this month, at least two universities warned students to tone down their Halloween costumes so they would not offend certain cultures or perpetuate any stereotypes.
