UPDATE, 11/10 — 3 PM ET:

The tweet that stirred controversy has been removed from O’Brien’s official account.

Late night comedian Conan O’Brien turned to Twitter Friday night to make a joke about the new Muslim superhero unveiled by Marvel — but some fans did not take it well.

“Marvel Comics is introducing a new Muslim Female superhero,” O’Brien tweeted to his over nine-million followers. “She has so many more special powers than her husband’s other wives.”

However, soon after sending the tweet, others hit the comedian back online, with some individuals even branding the joke as racist.
