“Breaking in on Arizona 16, Granite Mountain Hotshots, we are in front of the flaming front,” one of the firefighters can be heard saying over the radio.

“…our escape route has been cut off.”

“Yeah, I’m here with Granite Mountain Hotshots, our escape route has been cut off,” the group’s leader, Eric Marsh, said. “We are preparing a deployment site and we are burned out around ourselves in the brush and I’ll give you a call when we are under the shelters.”

The camera, which captured both audio and video, was recorded by a firefighter near the scene, according to KSAZ-TV.

The Fox affiliate added that several factors, including weather and fire conditions, have been cited as the cause of the tragedy.
