The New York Times put together a pretty entertaining survey (“How Y’all, Youse and You Guys Talk”) that asks the question: “What does the way you speak say about where you’re from?”

Some of the questions ask how you pronounce certain words:

Not that the latter question is necessarily useful since everybody knows the proper term for said sandwich is “Hoagie.”

But anyway…yours truly was shocked (shocked I tell you) to learn that a Philly guy could get pegged as speaking like someone from Brooklyn.
