Woman Arrested for DUI Utters One of the Most Honest and Prophetic Phrases on the Phone During Traffic Stop

When police questioned Karen Williams on Dec. 19 because she was parked on the sidewalk, they noted bloodshot eyes, slurred speech and the smell of alcohol. But that wasn’t the only giveaway that something was off for the Cottonwood, Ariz., woman who was picking up her daughter from youth group.

She wouldn’t get off the phone when officers approached, KPHO-TV reported.

“I have to go, I’m getting arrested for DUI again,” Williams said on the phone with an open can of beer on her lap, according to police.

She still didn’t end the call though. KPHO reported that police had to snag the phone from her hand.

Then the officers questioned her. Williams said her daughter was running late from youth group, prompting the 52-year-old mother to pull over to talk on the phone.

Williams, when asked if she had been drinking, revealed that she had six beers prior to heading out in the car, according to KPHO.

When it came down to taking a sobriety test, Williams told police she “did not feel like it.” But officers later learned her license had been revoked and arrested her.

While exiting the police car for booking, police found pills, identified as acetaminophen and hydrocodone, on Williams. At this point, the news station reported, the woman became unruly and required restraint at the county jail.

As for charges, Williams faces driving under the influence and open container violations.
