“Two thousand and fourteen” or “twenty-fourteen” — how will you say it?
According to a CNN survey, for the first time in the past decade individuals are split on how they will say the new year aloud. In previous years, Americans have opted by wide margins to preface the year by choosing “two thousand” over “twenty.”
But, that’s changing.
A telephone poll by CNN, conducted Dec. 16-19, indicated that Americans are now split on the pronunciation. Fifty-two percent of those surveyed said they will choose “two thousand and fourteen” while 46 percent will opt to pronounce it “twenty-fourteen.”
So, how will you say it?
