Amputated fingers — that’s what some customers of a card table set sold at Walmart have reported, prompting a recall.
The store is offering a full $50 refund for each of the 73,400 Mainstays five-piece card table and chair sets sold between May and November 2013, according to the Consumer Product Safety Commission.
So far, there have been 10 reports of injuries from the chairs collapsing. One involved a whole finger amputation, and three others were fingertip amputations. Other injuries included finger sprains or breaks, and one customer reported a sore back.
“Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled card table and chair sets and return the entire set to Walmart for a full refund,” the product safety commission wrote in its recall notice.
The table and chairs set is manufactured in China by Heshan Camis Industrial Co. Ltd.
