“Lone Survivor,” the highly anticipated film based on the real story of a 2005 SEAL Team 10 mission, hits theaters everywhere Friday, but you can catch a fascinating reenactment showcasing some of its artillery now.
The popular YouTube channel RatedRR did a “breakdown” of a scene involving a helicopter-mounted Dillon M-134 minigun shooting a car.
It shoots “an astonishing 3,000 rounds per minute,” the channel’s host said.
“Now with a rate of fire like that, you would think it’s only purpose would be suppressing fire, but don’t let the Dillon fool you. It’s also extremely accurate,” he said.
Though the clip shows the firearm running at impressive speed in realtime, it’s the super slow motion footage that is msmerizing.
