A Wisconsin newspaper delivery man says a driver hit him while he was biking home from his route Saturday night and kept driving without noticing he was stuck in his car’s windshield.
Steven Gove, 56, told HTR News that he was suddenly struck by a 20-year-old man, despite wearing a neon reflective vest, after completing his newspaper route in Manitowoc.
Gove said the suspect surprisingly appeared to not even notice his presence in the windshield.
“Everything was in the car except for my knees and feet. I turned to him and said, ‘Hello, I’m the guy you hit on the bicycle,’” he said. “I had no idea at all why he wasn’t acknowledging me.”

The man finally noticed him blocks later — after striking another vehicle.
“He looked at me and said ‘Who are you? What are you doing in the car?’” Gove said. “He started freaking out: ‘I’m going to jail, I’m going to jail.’”
The driver then locked the doors and went home, leaving the 56-year-old forced to pull himself out of his car.
Police say the driver has been arrested and charged with suspicion of operating while intoxicated causing injury and hit and run causing injury, among other things, according to HTR News.
Gove now says he is consulting with his lawyer about the accident.

“I’m starting to get nauseous and a little dizzy when I get up. I’ve had a headache ever since I went through the windshield. The nausea and dizziness just started today,” he said.
“I have no malice toward him,” the 56-year-old added. “I hope he can get his life straightened out. He’s a young man. He deserves a second chance.”
