Robert works as a call center representative for a major cable company, the name of which he asked to leave unspecified. During Tuesday’s “day of action” for the Get TheBlaze campaign, Robert said he received such a “staggering” number of calls requesting TheBlaze TV that it left a $1,000-dent on his commission-based salary.
Speaking on Glenn Beck’s radio program Wednesday, Robert began by saying he loves his job and his employers treat him “great.”
“We have large call centers on the Northeast and we probably employ approximately 1,000 people,” he said. “On a given day I take an average between 25 and 30 calls. I would say the amount of people called yesterday regarding TheBlaze — 33 percent of my calls.”
“Holy cow. And what were the people like who called?” Beck responded.
“Initially they seemed very on guard,” Robert said with a laugh. “Like they thought they were going to have a fight on their hands.”
Robert joked that he reassured the callers he’s “one of them” in a whisper.
“I want your listeners to know that they are heard and it is working. So keep calling,” he added.
Beck told the cable representative he’s sorry to have cost him money, and that he would like to send him a check for $1,000.
“You’re hard-working and I didn’t mean to cost you money, and I appreciate you writing in,” Beck said.
