This Olympic video was supposed to disappear from the airwaves today, but you can see the powerful story here.
Two sisters, Lanny and Tracy Barnes, are twin Olympic biathletes (the sport that combines cross-country skiing and shooting) who have trained for years together side-by-side. But this year the girls pulled an old twin trick that no one would ever expect at the Olympics: they switched places for the Winter Games.
Fox Sports called Tracy Barnes “the best person in sports” for giving her spot up to her sister Laney, who fell ill during the trials. Guinness clearly digs the sacrifice, and put the twins in their ad that “officially” vanished from the web Thursday.
Under U.S. Olympic Committee rules, a blackout from Jan. 30 to Feb. 26 bans ads featuring Team USA members from marketers that compete with official USOC sponsors, according to Mashable. In this case, Budweiser is an Olympic sponsor, which means that the Diageo-owned Guinness had just a day or so to showcase the ad.
