A five-hour SWAT standoff involving dozens of officers concluded in a small Texas city Friday night after authorities entered the home and discovered no one inside the residence.
According to the San Marcos Mercury, officers with the San Marcos SWAT team spent five hours attempting to convince the supposed burglars barricaded inside to peacefully come out, after a homeowner reported that he thought burglars were inside his home.
Crisis negotiators employed a loudspeaker, closed-circuit telephone and even sent a remote-controlled robot inside the house.
However, when those methods failed to procure any results, authorities decided to enter the house, making an entrance at about 7:30 p.m. No one was found inside.
Authorities aren’t prepared to say if the homeowner was mistaken about the alleged burglary, or if the suspects somehow managed to escape during the five-hour window, the San Marcos Mercury reported.
