Conservative radio host Mark Levin says he is “sick and tired of defeatist Republicans,” especially after watching GOP leaders in both the House and Senate fail to even try to attach any conditions or reforms to the debt ceiling increase passed this week.
Appearing on “Your World With Neil Cavuto” on Friday, Levin went off on Republicans for failing to address the nation’s serious fiscal problems because they are too worried about winning elections.
“We have $100 trillion in unfunded liability, $17.3 trillion in fiscal operating debt, this debt ceiling increase will kick it to about $18.2 trillion,” the radio host said. “Let me tell you something, I am sick and tired of defeatist Republicans going on and on, ‘You’ve got to count the numbers.’”
“Leaders effect events. Leaders change mindsets. Leaders change trajectory,” he added. “Today, we’re told the Republican Party can’t do anything about trillions in unfunded liabilities in debt. Just keep voting for debt ceiling increases, keep funding Obamacare.”
Levin went on to argue that not enough Republicans are actually explaining the “looming catastrophe” facing the United States if it doesn’t get its fiscal house in order. Americans are intelligent and can “walk and chew gum at the same time,” he argued.
“The American people need to be told: If this continues for many more years, they’re going to lose their pensions, they’re going to lose their savings, they’re going to lose their college funds and the value of the currency is going to crash,” Levin explained. “That is a fact!”
Levin also took shots at House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who he says Democrats don’t fear because they have “surrendered from day one.”

Further, Levin faulted Republicans for only fighting the battle over the debt ceiling “three weeks” before the time comes to pass legislation. Leaders need to start making the case against the federal government continuously racking up massive amounts of debt, he said.
“The next debt ceiling is March 2015, start today,” he continued. “Make the case. Explain it to the American people rather than go on Jay Leno’s show, slouch in the chair and act like an ass.”
When asked if it annoys him that conservative radio hosts like him and Rush Limbaugh are routinely blamed for making things harder for the Republican Party, Levin responded: “I don’t give a damn what they say, I don’t work for them and they mean nothing to me.”
In fact, he added, if it were up to him, many of the establishment Republicans would be voted out of office.
