A Florida woman who was robbed last year wasn’t about to let thieves get away with it again when she was alerted by her home security system of a break-in while she was away.
“I said, ‘Oh no! You’re not going to do it this time,'” Dawn Nelson of Sanford, Fla., told WKMG-TV of what she thought while driving home.
Less than a minute away from her house when she received a phone call from her home security company, she pulled into her driveway and saw a strange car.
“So I pulled in, blocked them in,” Nelson told the news station. “They were petrified.”
WKMG reported that the robbers still tried to get away by running into Nelson’s car, but when they couldn’t, they took off on foot.
Still “so angry,” Nelson ran after them.
“I was so mad. Believe me, they would have been hurting if I had caught up with them,” Nelson told WKMG.
Watch the news station’s report about the homeowner’s persistence trying to stop the would-be robbers:
Local police were able to identify suspects using the car’s license plate, which was found registered to the mother of one of the suspects. Alfred Wellingham, 20, and a 17-year-old, who was not named because he is a minor, were arrested after being identified in a photo lineup, WKMG reported.
Nelson found the family’s TV and XBox inside the car that was left behind.
