On a Scale of 1-10, How Weird Is It That the President Got Cheered For Doing This Simple Thing?

Ordinarily, when someone sneezes, the polite thing to do is to say “God bless you” and leave it at that.

But for President Barack Obama, a sneeze also gets a big cheer.

Speaking Tuesday to a crowd of volunteers with Organizing for Action, a group that grew out of the president’s re-election campaign, Obama was cut off mid-sentence by a sneeze.

“God bless you!” the volunteers shouted before erupting into applause.

“I’ve been working so hard I might be getting a cold. I actually think I’m okay,” he said.

“I got to ‘Get Covered!'” he added, referring to the slogan OfA has been using to sell the Affordable Care Act.

Elsewhere in his speech, the president praised the volunteers for their efforts to promote Obamacare.

“The work you’re doing is God’s work,” he said. “It is hard work.”
