Ellen’s ‘Selfie for the Ages’ in the Middle of the Oscars Broke Twitter

Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres managed to snag Meryl Streep, Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey, and other luminaries into one spot…then a photo was snapped…and was posted to Twitter.

And it became the one of the biggest to ever hit the Internet.

The viral reaction to the group selfie — retweeted more than 1.5 million times, breaking the previous record set by Barack Obama after his re-election — apparently caused Twitter to crash and left thousands of users locked out, according to Variety.

The magazine dubbed it a “selfie for the ages.”
